Any ideas on how to cook/what to do with braising greens mix
It's in our box this week and I have no idea what to do with it. Alot of it looks like salad greens we got last week, is this just another name for salad greens?
I also have salad turnips left from last week that I need to find something to do with, if anyone has any suggestions..........
Thx!
Re: Any ideas on how to cook/what to do with braising greens mix
You can prepare braising greens like you would fresh spinach, or baby kale, etc. Saute, steam, stir-fry, add to soups, etc. etc.
My favorite way to prep them is to saute/stir-fry in a wok with fresh garlic. I usually either season them Chinese-style (with some chili paste, a splash of soy sauce, a little vinegar, a bit of sugar), or Italian-ish style (with balsamic vinegar, pine nuts, currents, topped with shaved parmesan).
DROOL. To add one to the list, I usually do Southern Style. Cook 3-4 slices of bacon until crisp, remove and crumble, retaining drippings in pan. Cook 1 chopped onion in drippings until golden, add 1 tbsp minced garlic and cook until fragrant. Add chopped greens, and cook 15-20 mins until well wilted and soft. Stir in crumbled bacon.
This is DH's favorite side dish. We would have it every night if I let him.
Are braising greens the lettuce leaves or the kale/chard leaves?
I just use the lettuce leaves for salad and sandwiches but the kale I chop up into my spagetti sauce.
