Oh boy these past two weeks at work have been rough. My 8th and 9th graders have developed major attitudes and I have a few that are just falling apart and in the office all the time. Needless to say it has not been a fun few weeks at work. To lighten things up during this finals week, I told my small group of kiddos that we could have a game/snack day today. We played the game of Life and I taught them about making choices to go to college vs. going straight into a career, paying taxes, choosing an appropriate house to buy, etc. It was a really good lesson and they LOVED it.
Anyway, I brought chips and salsa and also homemade chocolate chip cookies. I brought my whole batch of cookies so probably 25 cookies in all. I had FOUR students with me and they ate ALL the cookies! Yikes! They were so grateful and just kept saying thank you than you Mrs. G. It made me happy but sad at the same time. These are kids that don't get "treats" very often if ever and most of the time the only food they get is at school. To see them devour the cookies like they had never eaten kind of made me stop and gain a little perspective on things!
