Weird?

So, H's best man from our wedding (and the guy who introduced us!) is getting married on October 8.  He asked H to be in his wedding party.  Now, at the end of May, we have still not received a save the date or any information about the wedding at all other than the date.  I'm talking we don't even know what time the ceremony is.

I guess they have time left to get things together but it's coming up on the four month mark and the clock is ticking.  His FI mentioned that there will be over 300 people there since they both have large families so it would seem like they would want to be right on top of this.  It's out of state in NY and we still need to know about traveling, booking a hotel, time off of work, the Bachelor / Bachelorette party, rehersal dinner, pretty much everything.  Does anyone else find this weird?  H seems to think they still have plenty of time, but I reminded him that I mailed out our save-the-dates 6 months in advance for the people traveling out of state.  I want to have him ask them how the wedding plans are coming along, but don't want to nag anyone or seem rude.

Re: Weird?

  • Kind of weird ya because I had almost 400 people show up and mine went out 7months in advance. I would shoot them an email reminding them since you are out of state you would like to know when everything is because you have found a couple good deals on rooms?
  • I would e-mail the bride. The BMs probably know all this stuff already, and the bride is probably assuming that her FI has informed his GMs. The bride doesn't know what the groom hasn't done unless someone tells her.

  • I don't think it's that wierd. They probably are just not that aware of the plans out-of-staters have to make. I would just send the bride an email or a fb message asking how things are going and tell her yall are excited and would like to go ahead and buy your tickets and book the hotel.

  • I think it's weird to those of us who did and believe in save the dates. It is totally foreign to someone like me who is a planner.

However, it's easy to forget that not too too long ago, no one EVER did a save the date. You knew when the wedding was by word of mouth or when you got your invite in the mail, and you booked your hotel and all then too.

  • I don't know, I really don't expect everyone to be a manic wedding planner and super-organized.  I just felt that since H will be in the wedding party we should be in the loop a little bit more by now.  I suppose I will have H message his friend and I will get in touch with his FI just to see how things are coming along.  Just don't want to seem pushy, that's all.
