This morning DH comes in the bedroom after feeding Bruce and says that I need to get up because the dog looks weird. I get up and he looked like he'd been punched in the eye! Like, totally swollen shut. I look down and his whole body was covered in hives

We just started a food switch and obviously he's allergic to the new stuff.
SO DH ran to the store for benadryl - FUN FACT --- dogs can have benedryl or its generic but canNOT have other allergy meds like zyrtec which is all we had on hand--- and he's fine now, but wowzers that was scary. Some pics of the poor little guy:

Ack! I how how scary that is. Dakota swelled up like that once and we still don't know what caused it. We think he got stung or bit by something in the yard. I had to take him to the emergency vet though because 1.) I didn't know about the benadryl and 2.) it looked like his nose was swelling shut.
Hopefully little Bruce is feeling better now!
Poor Bruce!
My dog ate a bee once and it must have stung in the right spot because her whole snout got swollen. Poor doggies.
We feed him Natural Balance's new grain free called "alpha dog". We'd been giving him the chicken and duck and he didn't really love it, so we switched to the lamb and rabbit which caused the problem. I think it must have been the rabbit as that's the only ingredient he's never had before?
Awww poor Bruce! Glad he's feeling better now!
PS: Can I just say that every time I see his name, it makes me chuckle lol. I had a client the other day who dog sits for a dog named Jayshawn....favorite dog name ever!!
