Karen's post made me curious.
What company do you get your car insurance through?
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates?
Why did you chose that company?
Feel free to add to the list if you want.
Re: S/O Car Insurance
What company do you get your car insurance through? We have our car and house bundled under Arbella (we went through State Fund insurance)
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates? Nope....*knocks on wood*
Why did you chose that company? They didn't turn me down for owning a fvcking iguana! Oh and they're rates were really good.
We use a guy here in town and they search for the best deals for us from Big company's, right now we have progressive,
I have an accident that has been following me around for a while now, i think it comes off this June !! as for tickets they have all come off!! woo-hoo my ins. before we got married was OUT right Expensive due to my 3 tickets and 1 accident.
we went with them because it was the place mike had been with for years
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates? I've had an accident, but it wasn't my fault and our rate didn't change. And Joe had a DWI from another state that he wasn't convicted of (He was under 21) so we don't know if that affects it or not.
Why did you chose that company? Cheapest, easy to manage online, I HATE calling to do stuff.
What company do you get your car insurance through?
USAA
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates?
Nope, the only speeding ticket I ever got was in H.S about 5 months after I got my license and the only accidents I have had in the last 5 years have been the other driver's fault (Someone backed into my parked car and someone rear ended me (all within 3 weeks of each other)).
Why did you chose that company?
USAA tends to be the cheapest in the business since you are only eligible for it if you or a family member was in the military. Both our fathers were in the military and so we able to have our own accounts with them. We were able to join our accounts before we got married, and then saved money because we were married. We also bundled our car insurance with our homeowner's insurance as well. Only thing USAA doesn't do it cover motorcycle insurance in NC, so we had Geico for that. DH currently can't drive it in NC, so we dropped that when we moved.
Ugh- Louisiana is SUPER expensive for ALL insurance
I have State Farm for car/renters ins and DH has Geico for car. We pay each pay $100 a month for our old accident/ticket free cars so that's $2400 a year. I've always had State Farm since I was on my parents insurance and I've never changed because they have always been super easy to deal with and the rates are "low". It wouldn't be any cheaper for us to get on the same policy so we just stick with the 2 different companies because we are lazy.
What company do you get your car insurance through?
Erie Insurance
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates?
1 single car accident, that was my fault (stupid parking garage), but my rate didn't increase.
Why did you chose that company?
My parents had us insured with that company when we were growing up, so I just got my own policy when i bought my car. I get renters insurance through them too, and I get a "family" discount because my parents were customers through them for a long time and I've been insured with them since I was 15ish. So when DH switched to a PA residency, we just added his car and him to the same policy because it was easy.
They're super cheap and very quick to respond when you make a claim.
DH and I do want to do some shopping around though (probably once we have homeowners insurance to worry about) just to make sure we're getting the best rates.

We bundled everything together (house, car, life) when we bought the house so we save 10-15% on each thing. We are with RBC (Royal Bank of Canada)
We had one accident a couple of years ago, but it wasn't our fault, so it didn't affect our rates.

TTC Since January 2011 - We have bad spermFarmers - used to have Wawanesa (super cheap and great coverage, but they couldn't cover us when we bought the house since it's within 0.5 miles of scrub brush)Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates?
DH has one ticket that raised our rates, but we're about $2K for the two of us for the year, and each have "premium" sedans (Acura and Lexus) which add to the cost. California's pretty high for insurance. Why did you chose that company?
It's the one I had growing up (actually, until December 2010 when I migrated to DH's insurance), and State Farm and Farmers are the only companies that would touch our house (it was burned to the ground in 2007's SoCal fires). We got good rates from Farmers for our multiple policies, and an added perk is our agent was a good friend of DH's from high school.

What company do you get your car insurance through?
Right now it is Progressive. My first company was State Farm, and they were my favorite. Once my last accident falls off my record I will likely return to them (one more year).
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates?
Yes. I totaled 4 cars within a 2 year period (though one of them was totaled due to hail damage). They did not increase my rates at all. However, after the 4th accident, once it was time to renew they dropped me. So when I went to a new company my rates were more than doubled (I went from $63 a month for full coverage, to $140 a month). I don't have any tickets on my record.
Why did you chose that company?
I chose State Farm because my parent's had them. I LOVED them. When we had the hail storm that totaled my car, my agent called me personally, about 30 minutes after the storm, to see if I had any damage. I loved that my agent was local, and that I could call and talk to him directly.
After getting dropped from State Farm I shopped around for the best rates, and found that Progressive was the best one of the reputable companies. When we shopped again after I got married, we found the same thing. They are okay, but not overwhelmingly great either.
What company do you get your car insurance through? Erie
Have you had any accidents or tickets that raised your rates? My last accident just went off the record, but it went off my record about the same time we changed to married so I don't know what change it made...my old insurances: Allstate wouldn't let me on my own policy for s 22 mph over speeding ticket and Progressive nearly doubled for 2 accidents (one of which I totalled my car) in 6 months...
Why did you chose that company? we'd heard positive reviews and when we got a quote to consolidate for both of us and 3 vehicles it was less than I was paying for one
We had the same experience with Erie - Covering DH & I and 2 cars is less than just covering my vehicle - go figure!
