Looks like tomorrow might be my last day of work...

The OB said I was 1 cm dilated and 75% effaced on Tuesday. I was told that could mean 2 days or 2 weeks. Today I woke up with Braxton Hicks contractions, but so many that I wasn't sure. I usually only get them in the afternoon or evening when I'm more tired. So, I put in for a substitute on our internet page. However, the office didn't find it. So a teacher called to check on me and I looked at the website to see they cancelled my sub.

To add to the drama, I was observed last week Monday and was told it was unsatisfactory on Friday. The reason given was that my teaching point was too hard for the class, but yet she stated that the students successfully completed the lesson and did the teaching point. And then she said I didn't mention the teaching point, but know I did. I hope when I'm in adminstration I don't get intimidated like this and react so personally. My principal has been told since Monday that I need to meet with him ASAP, so I can make sure I get an S rating for the end of the year, but has been avoiding me. I'm also upset that this AP can make up items in observations and walk-throughs, but I don't think I'll have time to deal with that issue right now. So, I'm back to redoing my resume and looking for something else next year. Honestly, I'm getting bored, would like to meet new people and work with a new special education population anyway.

So, not wanting to start having contractions in school and a retreat from the drama, I think tomorrow is it. I was going to try to go back Tuesday, May 31 in hopes not to mess up my summer payroll as much. But, after a 3 day weekend and being 39 weeks, 1 day I think it would be too much. Our building also doesn't have AC and has the sun shine right in all morning.

Any ideas on what to do while we wait for Baby Girl? I'm kinda feeling like there may not be much of a wait, because my BH contractions are really strong now the last 2 days. If that's any sort of indicator.

  • damn, what school do you work at?  this admin sounds like the gestapo!

i used to work at a school like that in bushwick, and by the end of my 5-year run there, my DH was literally telling me that i was not allowed to go back the following year because of the stress.

take your time starting tomorrow!  it's SO not worth that 1 day!

  • Good for you for making it this far in an un-airconditioned room! I probably would have went out as soon as it was getting warm.

I went out on maternity leave 2 weeks before I was due and took that time to finish up on last minute things. Also, just put your feet up and relax, because you will never get to do that once LO is here. =/

  • I'm really sorry. I can't recall... Is this a private or public school? If it's public, you should reach out to the borough UFT and inquire about your rights. From what I understand, there is a due process to get terminated. I was always under the impression that pregnancy fell under the disability rights act, etc.
  • No idea about dealing with the School. It sounds like a sucky situation all through. Just rest up while you wait for your little girl. I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out.

  • What  a crappy situation! I hope you are able to go point for point to fight your observation, just so that its on the record, you know?

And KUDOS, HUGE KUDOS to you for making it this far in your pregnancy and still work. Well done, but its definitely time for a rest.

Read, catch up on movies - can you meet up with friends for lunch? Have some friends come visit with you at home so you dont have to go far! Did you ever do a diary of sorts to document your pregnancy? Maybe write the baby a letter? Maybe take some pictures of yourself to document your last days. Ooh, how about a belly cast?!!

    Okay, too many questions.  LOL

Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker ...here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life; which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart I carry your heart(I carry it in my heart)
  • date nights!  lots and lots of date nights!  DH and I don't have local family and barely ever get out (sitters are expensive and dd isn't a great sleeper).  Go out and have appetizers and desserts, heck have one for me!
