s/o dermatologists and eczema
I noticed Lisa mentioned eczema in her post and I know a lot of us suffer from it. I used to have horrible, horrible eczema. I tried every different cream and even had to take oral steroids occasionally.
I also have some pretty bad allergies and was recently given a patch test at the allergist (fun times- wearing large patches on your back and not being able to bathe properly for 3 days). Anyway, the point of my post is that an ingredient in the eczema creams were causing my severe eczema. I tested positive for Tixocortal-21-Pivalate, which is in a ton of Rx and OTC treatments. I stopped treating my eczema with the creams and now only have mild flare ups (I also cut out milk from my diet, which helps, too).
Maybe this info will help someone. For me, the fluocinonide (Lidex) was the culprit.
Below are some meds that contain it:
- Amcinonide
- Budesonide
- Cloprednol
- Desonide
- Fludrocortisone acetate
- Fluocinolone acetonide
- Fluocinonide
- Flurandrenolide
- Halcinonide
- Hydrocortisone
- Hydrocortisone 17-butyrate
- Hydrocortisone acetate
- Hydrocortisone butyrate
- Hydrocortisone probutate
- Hydrocortisone buteprate)
- Hydrocortisone valerate
- Methylprednisolone
- Micronized fluocinonide
- Prednicarbate
- Prednisolone
- Prednisolone acetate
- Steroid: group b
- Steroid: group d2
- Triamcinolone
Re: s/o dermatologists and eczema
Wow! Thanks for posting this! I'm going to look into this!
I'm so tired of having this crap. It appeared after I gave birth last year so it's new for me, and nothing the derm is prescribing me is working.
