Ugh, Plumber

I just scheduled for a plumber to come out today and fix the leaky valve behind the toilet. It all started when I went to replace the flapper in the tank. When I turned off the water, the valve continued to leak. Plus, water is still leaking into the toilet through one of the tubes in the tank. I'm no expert so I'm not sure exactly what's going on. H is at work and when I called my dad for advice, he said I should call a plumber. We'd used RedCap in the past, but when I called them they had this weekend service fee. So I called this other place, Plumbing Rescue. They have this decent coupon special on their website, but I made the mistake of mentioning it to the girl I spoke to. Now I'm afraid she'll tell the plumber to jack up the price so that my coupon won't even be useful. I hate this crap. There's going to be a $50 service call fee and I won't know what he'll charge until he's here. And then I have the $75 off coupon, but who knows how useful it will be.

H is all pissed off the we have to spend money on this but it's obviously pretty necessary. I just hate feeling like I'm about to get ripped off. Hopefully I'm just being paranoid. I tried to research a few other companies in the area and the place I chose had the best coupon... which probably means they're shady. Blah.

  • Did you google the problem?  I've been able to fix almost everything that's gone wrong in the new condo with google and the help of a home depot guy.

Yeah I looked into how to fix the leak but it seems like more than I can handle. However, I got a call from the company and they asked if they could come out tomorrow instead due to another emergency, and they will waive our service fee. So when H gets home we'll look again to see if we can fix it on our own, since they won't really be here till tomorrow. Would be great if we can!
