OBGYN (Macomb area)

The last time I was at the OBGYN it was a couple years ago.  I've had all paps done since then by my RE.  I need to make an appt though to get an annual and have another pap done, and I'm not sure if I should go back where I last was in 2009 or if I should go somewhere else.

The last OB I saw was Dr. Wallace at Oakland-Macomb OBGYN.  I had also seen Dr. Goymerac at that practice.  My PCP recommended going to the practice in the Beaumont Medical Center - Macomb (Dr.'s Valice, Kobold, Smith, and Jordan) when I asked him for a rec.  Granted, my PCP is in that building too so he may just recommend them to everyone for that reason.

Anyone have experience, good or bad, at either place?  I need to set up an appt kind of soon to get the ball rolling with what we're doing out in Colorado at CCRM.  Feel free to PM me if you'd prefer not to share publicly!

Re: OBGYN (Macomb area)

  • I love Oakland Macomb Ob-Gyn.  I have seen pretty much all the doctors there and I think they are great!
  • Dr Valice was my doc while he was at oakland-macomb and I really liked him. I decided to stay at Oakland-Macomb and now see Dr. Love or the midwives. I like the practice a lot. I have only used them for annual exams.
  • I love Dr. Valice. I followed him over when he switched to that practice. Seriously the quickest and easiest pap that I have ever had. I highly recommend him.

  • I see Dr Becky Smith in Macomb and she's very nice, great bedside manner.  I also have met with Dr Kobold for an Essure consultation since Dr Smith doesn't do this procedure and she was also very easy to talk to.
  • Dr. Hayes at CFC recommended that I go see Dr. Agosta out of Henry Ford since we preferred to stay away from Beaumont. I used to go to Oakland-Macomb (Dr. Love), but the practice was so busy I felt like I was just being herded like cattle. The doctors were pleasant, just brief. Dr. Agosta spent a ton of time with me and because it's through HF too, he was able to see my CFC records etc. I felt like I mattered and I'm happy with my choice!

  • I ended up following Dr. Valice when he left Oakland Macomb.  I haven't seen any of the other doctors, but I've heard great things about them.  The staff is really friendly too.  Bonus- you get an actual gown and cotton sheet, so no crinkly paper.
