Haven't been on in a while...Update on TTC

Well, I have PCOS. I went to the doctor Tuesday and I definitely have it. So, she's sending me for blood work, once a week for 3 weeks to see if my progesterone levels go up. If they do, then of course I ovulated during that time, if not, then she's going to put me on medication to make me ovulate.

I don't know if any of you have been on the medication, but if you have, did it work? How long did it take before you got pg? Any side effects?

I go back on June 21st to go over the blood work. In the meantime, H and I are still TTC just incase I do ovulate this cycle.

I hope all you ladies are doing great! Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Re: Haven't been on in a while...Update on TTC

  • I haven't, but wanted to wish you luck.  I had my initial consult with a RE a few weeks ago (after TTC for over a year) and we finish up our inital round of testing this week - so I know the frustration of seeing BFN's month after month after month.  Hope you get a BFP soon!

  • I'm sorry :( That sucks! I too have PCOS which has made TTC a challenge.  In April I started my first round of Clomid, and while I did ovulate I didn't get pregnant.  I took a break from the Clomid in May (due to being on vacation and away from H during potential O dates) and I should be starting it up again this month.  I didn't have too many side effects from the Clomid other than painful ovulation.

Let me know if you have any other questions!  GL to you and I hope you get your BFP soon!

I'm sorry for what you are going through.  My H and I have been TTC for a while now and I would bne happy to answer any questions that you have if I can.  I have been on multiple medications, so once you find out what you'll be taking I can tell you more about it.  Most likely you'll start with clomid.  It is funny that is the first med, cause it's the one that affected me most, as far as mood swings, headaches, etc.  But you'll probably start on 50 mg, which I didn't have much trouble with.  Each month that it doesn't work they will up it by 50 mg.  As they added pills monthy the symptoms got worse.  Blurry vision was a big issue for me, although I've read that isn't too common.  Lucky me.  While on clomid they will monitor you, with ultrasounds.  My insurance covered these ultrasounds (I only paid my $40 copay), hopefully yours will too.  Are you seeing a RE?

Thanks for the info, she didn't tell me what medication I'd be on, but I was thinking that it was that one. No, I'm not seeing a RE, just my regular OBGYN. She told me I didn't need to see any type of specialist yet since we're just starting out.

  • I'm sorry you're having to go through this!  I will keep you in T&Ps for a BFP very soon!
