Christmas gifts?

Anyone else already shopping for Christmas gifts. When I see something that looks like a great gift for someone, I'm getting it early this year. That way I'm not scrounging around at the last minute (like I did last year).

Re: Christmas gifts?

  • I don't make it a plan to start shopping early, but I keep an eye out for sales or awesome deals that would make a great gift for someone. I keep a plastic tub in the spare bedroom closet where I put all the gifts I find, as well as a list in my purse so I remember what I have bought and for who, so I'm not buying multiple gifts for one person.

  • I love the tub idea. Whenever I buy gifts early I always misplace them or forget about them. I think I'll start using a tub to stick them in. That way, by the time Christmas rolls around it will all be together. Thanks!

  • I haven't bought real gifts but I did buy some stocking stuffers on clearance the week after Christmas (think bonne belle lip smackers lip gloss for pre-teen nieces).  We opened a Christmas savings account on Saturday to lessen the impact of Christmas but typically we don't overdo Christmas gifts but I usually do buy something if it's a great deal and I have a particular person in mind. I would NEVER buy something with the intention of figuring out who to give it to.  Also, SILs and MIL always tell me what they would like to get their kids/grandkids.  If I see something on sale I usually call them or go ahead and pick it up (I can always take it back) and let them repay me later.  It makes shopping less hectic when it has to be done all w/in a month....

As for storing the gifts...geez.  I bought a Precious Moments birthday figurine for MIL 2 years ago and just gave it to her on her bday early this month.  I put everything in a closet and it's so disorganized w/Christmas decorations that I forget to look.  I just thought of those lip smackers the other day.  Maybe I should dig in and see what I can find Embarrassed

  • Have not even thought about it yet.. we also have half the birthdays in the family around that time as well!
  • I am all done.  Nieces and parents, all set.  Though our list is pretty short since we limit gift giving.

  • The only gifts DH and I still need to buy are for eachother! Since this is our first year of being married (and our budget is tight), we wanted to do something simple but thoughtful. I fell in love with a metal-mending shop, and they do amazing ornaments. To avoid all the back-orders during the holiday season, I bought them last week. Every family gets a hand-picked one of a kind ornament this year.

No kids so that makes it easier.
