I've been enjoying a relaxing weekend. We had a great time today walking around the Decordova and then headed over to Russos to grab some veggies for the next few days. I got a little bit of garden work done yesterday and I'm looking forward to getting a lot done back there tomorrow.
Hope everyone is doing well and having a fun, long weekend.
Re: Happy long weekend!
Ah, Russo's...you were in my 'hood! I have to check out the deCordova sometime; we were going to take MIL on her last visit here but she wasn't interested.
We've had a great weekend so far too. Today we were total gluttons to celebrate our anniversary: brunch at Cafe Luna in Central Square (soooo good) and dinner at Blue Ginger. I think I've had enough calories for the week, but it was totally worth it
Happy anniversary, Rock! And I need to make it over to Russo's one of these days; everyone raves about that place.
We've had a good, low-key weekend. We were supposed to go to a PawSox game on Saturday, but I managed to put the tickets somewhere "safe." Yeah, after tearing apart the apartment, we gave up, and went to see Bridesmaids and grab dinner in Harvard Square instead. Yesterday, we did nothing, and today, we are doing more of the same. Though if I can muster up the energy, I think I'm going to walk over to the movies and see Water for Elephants later, since it's right around the corner and my husband has no interest in it.
Hope you all are enjoying the nice weather!
Rock: Happy Anniversary!
I wish we had some place like Russo's in our neighborhood. The mushroom selection alone was worth the trip!
How was Blue Ginger? SO and I have never been, but it's on "the list." (Along with Menton, No9 Park, Oleana, Rialto and so many others...)
ead: Did you get to go to Water for Elephants. I loved the book... I'm looking forward to checking out the film.
Back to work tomorrow... four more weeks before summer vacation! It's going to be a long four weeks.
Thanks for the anniversary wishes, everyone!
ead, when DH and I moved to Waltham about five different people said to us, "Have you been to Russo's?!" We were like, "What the heck is up with this Russo's place?" Then we finally went and were like, "Ooooh..."
And yes, Ginger, the mushroom selection is awesome, as is the cheese counter (which totally intimidates me), the hot pepper selection, the breads, the Asian veggies, etc....
Blue Ginger was great, as usual. We were hoping to do their tasting menu again but it was too busy so they decided not to offer it. Sad face. But I finally tried the black pepper lobster, one of their signature dishes. To be honest, it was good but not my favorite lobster dish ever. Their butterfish is better (another signature dish). DH had the "paella" and that was yummy. For dessert, we had their amazing creme brulee (my favorite creme brulee anywhere) and chocolate cake--so good.
I didn't. We ended up watching one of the Netflix discs I had hanging around instead - It's Kind of a Funny story, with Zack G. (I'm not even going to attempt that), and Keir Gilchrist (aka the son from US of Tara). I liked it a lot, though it's one of those quirky indie movies that you have to be in the mood for, I think.
I may try to go to WfE later, since I'm still home today.
