S/O baby wearing

Where, when and how are you wearing your baby?  I used a Moby in the first month or two and it was great, but haven't really used it since.  We transitioned DS out of the infant seat and into the convertible seat this weekend, so we now have to carry him a lot more.  I thought I'd try out the Moby again, but it seems way too hot to have him against me with that much fabric.  So, I'm just curious what other people are doing...

Re: S/O baby wearing

  • We started out with the Infantino baby carrier, and we really liked it; but, we ended up buying a Moby a couple of weeks ago b/c I read that you could BF in it.  I just used the Moby this past week while traveling, and really loved it.  I plan on continuing to use it throughout the summer, and hopefully until Lucy outgrows it.  I wear her mostly around the house and when we go out shopping.

Can't wait to meet my baby boy!
  • For now E is in her Moby. I took her to a HS graduation last Thursday in it and she did great (we were outside all night). I made sure to dress her "lightly" but when I took her out she wasn't drenched in sweat or anything. We plan on getting her an ERGO once she's 14lbs (really hoping DH let's me spring for the new PPB) but I want to see it first to make sure we like it before investing the $$$.
  • i used the sleepy wrap (same thing as the moby but i like the material better, it has some spandex in it so it doesn't get as stretched out as the 100% cotton moby) from nb-6ish months. i wasn't able to wear ds really after about 6 months old, he hated it. hopefully this new baby will like it longer than that because i'd like to use my very expensive ergo carrier that ds hated lol

  • we made a light weight cotton muslin fabric non stretchy wrap that worked just like a moby. I used that for a long time.

Now I have a mei tai that we use with her for a back carry. I just dress her light and her arms and legs are out which helps

You could always try a sling and do a hip sit

  • I used the moby wrap until ds was about 3 months old around the house, the closer he came to 15 lbs the heavier it felt and it is getting so hot with all that fabric. We love our beco carrier. We have the gemini, as soon as he was holding his head up strong enough we had him forward facing out, now hes 5 months old and I wear him piggy back/backpack style and he loves it. it is still tricky putting him in it on my back by myself, but once hes there hes good to go. As for when we wear him, sometimes if we are doing lots of different store errands we will keep a variety...stroller in one store, floppy seat in shopping cart, and beco carrier so that he gets different perspectives and not too bored with the whole shopping.

  • If I need my hands free while carrying him, we still use the Bjorn Air carrier. It's got a lightweight weave to it that allows it to be breathable. I used it a couple of weeks ago at Schneph Farms to pick peaches. N is almost 8 months old and 17lbs.
