Tressel out at Ohio State

I told my husband, a Michigan fan though we live in Ohio, in advance that he can't be insufferable about this, at least not to me.  I hope we don't end up getting Urban Meyer... I know that the interim coach Luke Fickell (sp.) is going to be the coach for this coming season.

I think it's sad...I have always respected the school. I'm in a totally different conference, but when we played them in a BCS game, the fans were amazing and we had a blast. I've had a soft spot for them since...bummer with all of their talent.

Oh, I am sure it's only a matter of time when all of these top schools get busted for something. With the strict regulations, I am sure everyone of them doesn't follow them exactly.

I live in Columbus (as an Illini fan), and I have to say that I am less than impressed with so many of their fans. So many stood behind Tressel when he was winning and recruiting great players, and with all of this, they're just fine with throwing him to the sharks making him out to be this terrible person. This problem with OSU football goes way beyond Tressel, I have no doubt. And besides, these players are adults! It's about time they start acting like it...at every school! But I digress. The OSU "family" that was in tact during Tressel's rein is no more, it's sad. I feel like so many people are only fans when times are good. Maybe as a Cubs fan all my life I've just learned to be a graceful loser?

That's what I was thinking. I was wondering how long it'd take for sh!t to hit the fan and he'd finally be gone...

It'll be interesting to see how this whole drama unfolds over the next few months.

As a OSU fan though, are you happy about this or did you "worship him" as others (at least some of my friends) do/did? I heard he is sort of an A$$hole, but I wouldn't know so I am just asking.

I still like Tressel, but I wasn't upset that he was fired.  I did hear, however, that the SI article was factually inaccurate.

I heard Tressel may end up coaching at BW.  That's just speculation from a Canton paper.
