Baby insurance for the first 30 days

My insurance company is trying not to cover us because we weren't paid in full due to a technicality in their billing system though we tried several times to find out the amount we were to pay so we could make our payment after we added our baby to our policy.  The insurance company claims that since we owed for that month and didn't pay "in full" after we had already paid for just the two of us (but needed to send in payment for our baby), that we are not covered.

I heard that Arizona law says your baby is covered for FREE for the first 30 days and that you need to add them before it is up so there is no "lapse" in the babies coverage.  Shouldn't I still be covered for that month then?

Does anyone know the policy under ARS law?

Please help!

Re: Baby insurance for the first 30 days

  • Is your coverage through an employer? If so if you provided them the documentation within 30 days then it's on them. Contact your (or your SO) HR. If your insurance isn't through an employer I have no idea. GL!
  • as far as i know, babies are not covered for free under your insurance policy, it's just retroactive from the date that the baby's born. we had 30 days to add DS to our policy after he was born, but it wasn't free
