Update on me

DH has decided not to get a lawyer, he just wants this whole thing to be over.  He's applied for unemployment and is looking for a new job.  In the meantime I'm picking up work during the day and my job has been really great about it.  I'm sure I'll get burnt out working all the time, but for now I don't mind.  And it's been good for DH to be home with Ben, since he appreciates how hard being a SAH parent can be ;)

Thanks for all the kind words, I have no idea what the future holds for us but for now we are ok.  And we bought tickets to the DMB caravan and a hotel for the weekend a month before he lost his job.  We are doing the irresponsible thing and going anyway, rather than selling the tickets.  It's the first thing we have planned for us in a long time, and I think we need the escape.  We'll be living on PB&J to save money, but it should be a good time :)

Re: Update on me

  • HUGE hugs your way! I hope he finds a new job soon.

And I would still go on your trip. You might need that escape to just have fun, and unless it means your mortgage won't get paid, do it :)

  • How did I miss this??  I am so sorry for what happened and I'm glad that you have a little getaway planned so that you can hopefully destress.  Hang in there!!

  • Thanks for the update. I think that your DH being at home will be great in forming a better bond with your son and now he see what "your world" is like. I totally agree with not selling the tickets, you'll need the time away. Enjoy it!
  • Good to hear you guys are getting things figured out. Enjoy the concert - I would definitely still go. Times like this can be stressful and taking the time to do something you both enjoy will be very beneficial.
  • Thanks for the update. I was going to page you to see how you were doing. I think that is good that you are going to the concert. I'm sure you will make up for it in other areas.

Thinking of you as you go through this process.

  • Thanks everyone - we just got the letter stating his unemplyoment was approved for a year.  I hope it doesnt take that long to find something new, but its nice to know we have something to fall back on!

What does he do?  Again, sorry I missed all of this or forgot!

  • I am so sorry.  I'll keep you in my t&p that he finds something relatively quickly.  And I agree, I think it is good idea to still go to the concert.  It will provide some tension relief that you need.

    Hang in there.

He worked for Comcast for the last 6 years, and before that he was a mall security guard.  He worked his way from the bottom at comcast and was a supervisor.

He has no college degree, and has only worked for 2 companies in the last 10 years, one of which is no longer in business.  Not great for a resume :/

  • I've been thinking of you guys a lot lately, and I'm glad you posted.

I know the State is paying for people to go to school for certain training - must be high demand field.  I don't know if he'd be interested in that, but, and option.

Hope the job search is a short one.

  • Freeburger, I think I missed the original post, but I'm so sorry to hear that you guys are going through this.  Glad to hear that unemployment is coming through though.  I'll keep my fingers crossed that he's able to find a new position soon!
  • Here's hoping he can find something soon and your stress can go down - it sounds like you have a fairly good handle on everything though.  And I'm no financial planner, but I'm a fan of treating yourself - so have fun at the concert and enjoy your getaway. :-)
  • I too missed the original post.  I'm sorry to hear that YH lost his job.  Best of luck to him in finding another.  I think it's good that you're going on your trip as planned too.  You might as well enjoy a weekend away together!

Well I know there is something better out there for him.  Everything happens for a reason!  Keeping fingers crossed he finds something soon!
