Is it too late to start planting cherry tomatoes? (I live in NY). Any advice or suggestions? It's my first time doing this.
Re: cherry tomatoes
In the PNW you sometimes don't put out tomato starts until mid-June.
I'd get a couple of plants. Get one that's determinate (bush type), it'll ripen faster, but will give you all of your fruits at once. Get a vining type (indeterminate) as well, and it'll give you fruits through the rest of the season. Indeterminates tend to be the better-tasting, heirloom varieties, but they can take awhile getting started. This way you can have some both sooner and later.
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
I'm in Maine and everyone here says to plant them on Memorial Day weekend. I did mine two weeks ago. And yes, indeterminate take awhile but you can find pretty decently-grown plants already. I saw some huge ones at Lowe's.
