Strawberries help

Something is eating my berries! I am a container gardener.. What do I use to prevent this from happening? I want to eat my berries.. not feed the local wildlife! TIA.

Re: Strawberries help

  • Chipmunks love strawberries.  Do you have any of them in your area?  Can you add a wire mess around the container and possibly on top to keep the critters out.
  • We have a cone of hard metal mesh around my strawberry pots.  So far I have two red berries that are almost ready to pick and nothing has eaten them yet.  I heard squirrels like to get into the garden.  I bet birds too.
  • I put these around mine to ward off curious critters.

"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab

Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman

We see a little chipmunk in our front yard all the time. Thanks!

  • Everything eats them! My robins and squirrels get at them. You can buy a strawberry net to put over them, or if you have some tool or other "netting" type fabric that would probably work too. Best thing is just to get out there everyday and pick what you can as well.
