It never tastes the same when I make it at home. What is the secret? I have some Mocha Mint coffee that I think would be great for iced coffee but I always mess it up and it tastes horrible.
Re: homemade ice coffee
You have to brew it really strong - like for hot coffee we usually do one scoop per cup - if I'm planning to pour it over ice, I'd probably do 1.5 or 2.
DH & I tend to make a bunch of hot coffee at once and put it in a container in the fridge so it cools down that way vs. being poured over ice. We don't add sugar or milk/cream until we actually make it so it stays better longer.
We've had success doing it that way.

When I made my iced coffee from a regular coffee maker, I would do what the others said as well - maybe 1.5 Tbsp of coffee per cup. Then I'd cool it in the fridge overnight.
It still never tasted all that great though. I got used to it, but it was not even close to as good as DD.
Until... I got my Keurig! Now I brew the Green Mountain French Vanilla Iced Coffee k-cups. I do one cup at a time on the biggest cup setting, then put the mug in the fridge for an hour to chill. Then I pour it over ice w/milk & sugar. It is FANTASTIC. I love it so much that I prefer it over DD.
