Playgrounds with sandboxes

Does anyone know of any playgrounds in the burbs that have a sandbox?  Tommy got a bunch of sand toys for his birthday and I wanted to take him out to play with them once this killer heat breaks.

Re: Playgrounds with sandboxes

  • not sure what burbs you're in but in Bucks county there's a nice wooden playground in Yardley that has a little sandbox connected to the rest of the playground.  it's off of edgewood road- right near the municipal complex.

not far from that in langhorne at Community Park there is a small playground that has a sandbox right next to it.  it's in the back behind the baseball fields.  it's off of langhorne-yardley road.

not sure if these are anywhere near you but they're the ones we've discovered.  have you checked out this website?  www.4kidsinpa.com  you can search for parks/playgrounds.  some of them have descriptions as to what's there at the playground.  it's for the entire state of PA so you kind of have to weed through to find what's near you.  it's also good for other info on what to do with kiddos.

  • We're in Montgomery County near Plymouth Meeting.  Those parks would be good too because they're right near my sister so I could always take him when we're down visiting her.

Thanks for that link, it's a great website!

  • There's one on Hancock in Lansdale that has a sandbox but that's probably too far for you. It's a nice park and playground though with short walking trails through the woods and in the summer, there's a little maze made out of bushes.

  • There is a new one (just built last year) called Freedom Playground at the Haverford Reserve on Darby Rd.  They have a sandbox and the playground itself is awesome, the kids love it

  • Kimberton has a nice one. It's a little hike for you, but it's the size of a swimming pool. Happy to meet you there one day.

  • Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!

mzovoce- I have to google where Kimberton is and I'll let you know ;)

Eagles - that playground looks awesome and my BFF lives 5 minutes from there.  Her daughter is a year older than Tommy so we're definitely going to check that out, thanks!
