Dh and I are in desperate need of a weekend getaway. We can probably only take a Saturday and Sunday night somewhere. We really want somewhere we can relax, lay around, not do very much. Any ideas?
It needs to be no further north than SF. Central Coast is fine too. I'm finding a lot of places are booked up for the summer season already.
My favorite place on earth: The Amargosa Valley.

Re: Weekend getaway ideas
Pismo Beach is super pretty and has a nice getaway feel. SLO isn't too far away and they have yummy food.
Monterey is also one of my faves, although it's usually not a warm place.
What about renting a cabin - you can lay around in there with a fire and drinks
Tahoe, Mammoth Mountain are the first two areas that pop in my head.

You can never go wrong with Morro Bay. H and I are going two weeks from today (yay!). It's A LOT cheaper during the week so if you can afford to take some time during the week you'll save a lot. We're staying at the Best Western off of Highway 1 because they allow us to take our dogs. It's actually a very nice motel and I'm pretty picky about motels/hotels. We're paying $86 a night and I think it goes up to about $140 during the weekend.
Try booking hotels that don't have ocean views because they tend to not book as fast and you might save a few dollars. El Morro Masterpiece in Morro Bay is really nice. They have breakfast and an afternoon wine and cheese hour. Blue Sail Inn is really nice too and they have ocean, partial bay, and city view options. I've never had a problem staying there and they have a continental breakfast now. The nice thing about blue sail is that it's right by the Embarcadero (sp?) so you can just walk to restaurants and shops.
