Baby fever

I do not have any kids and I am currently seeing babies everywhere I go! I want one soo bad right now but I know I am not ready. Both me and H want to wait another 5 years or so. It seems like theres a trend now a days to have a baby when your 20. So young! . Anyone else had/have this issue?

I didn't want babies just yet, until I thought I was preggers. Although I know me and DH aren't ready yet. We plan on ttc the end of next year. That seems more reasonable to me. For now my niece and soon to be niece (SIL is due in October) will fill my wanting babies needs.

I'm not even sure I want kids, but hearing different girls on here talk about being pregnant or trying to get pregnant kind of gives me baby fever.  I then hear a kid screaming somewhere and all that goes away lol.

  • We definitely want kids, but we're on the wait 5-yr idea also.  We live in Chicago, which is a high-cost-of-living kind of place, so we feel we really need to save up and we're not were we'd ideally like to be just financially.  We're 25 and have been together a long time, but we've only been living together/in the same city for not even 2 years.  We want more time to the two of us to have fun/share experiences.

However, PG girls on here kind of make me think we won't hold out 5 yrs, but we'll see!

  • I'm pretty sure I have, like, anti-baby fever. I could not be less interested in having a baby any time in the immediate future. Or ever, possibly. We're both in our mid thirties (he's 34, and I'll be 36 in a couple of weeks) so now would be the time to start thinking about it. But ehhhhhh. We like our life/lives the way they are now. I think if we had a few more years to play with, we'd probably come around to it.  But for now, the dog is more than enough.

We decided that if we get to a point in a few years where we change our minds, then we're happy to go the foster parent/adoption route.  In college, I interned for an adoption resource agency, and I wrote a few of the "Sunday's Child" columns for the Boston Globe.  The watered-down versions of the files I read gutted me, so I think I'd be more inclined to go that route than try to get pregnant in my 40s.

that's a good idea, my H is really wanting to consider adopting. I told him I am for it too but I would like to try having my own first. He kinda of worried me tho. When I first got on BC we didn't wait the time your suppose to for it to be effective, and I didn't get pregnant so the other day he said well i think your going to have a hard time getting prego. not a big deal just a worry in the back of my head.

Thank goodness for screaming kids!  They manage to cure my baby fever EVERY time!  But I suffer from a bout with baby fever I think at least twice a day!

  • I have the worst case of baby fever ever...we weren't going to start ttc until July on our cruise but we started 2 months early. And if it takes us long to get pg there isn't going to be anything on the registry because I'll have gotten everything at our thrift store

This, except he's 38 and I'm 34.  We are not opposed to having children, but neither are we eager for it right now.

This! I had my niece and nephew yesterday and while I love them to pieces if I had to answer one more "why" question yesterday I thought I might come unglued.

Haha!  Am I the only person in the world who isn't bothered by that?  I think it's adorable that they have such a thirst for knowledge, and I love answering the questions.

Maybe it's because I ask so many (often dumb) questions?  Or maybe there's something wrong with me?

  • I've got the fever.  But DH and I are both 29 and we want 2-3 kids, so we are trying now to get it started.  I never did want kids until I met DH.  I knew right away that I wanted HIS kids (I kept that thought to myself at first though-- LOL!)
  • I had terrible baby rabies until just recently...realizing that all my kids were about to leave the nest (my youngest is 15), I had decided that maybe 8 kids just wasn't enough, and we should go for 1 or 2 more.  We were even making arrangements for me to have some surgery done to help us start trying to conceive.  And then my 19-year-old daughter announced that she was pregnant.  End baby fever...cue the granny madness!  I couldn't be more excited about being a young grandma (I'll be 38 when the baby gets here), and am especially thrilled that I don't have to go through pregnancy and labor to get my baby fix!

We are TTC now.  Hopefully it won't take too long.  I'm a little bit concerned because of my age (36), so we'll see.

This is not the only reason why you didnt....dont let that freak you out.....

Jeremy has a health concern that will most likely make it difficult for us to conceive. when my obgyn took me off bc for health reasons i was happy because i want to start letting my cycles be who they are (i was on bc for over 10 years) we'll see where they go from here! :)

Lol, I'm not either.  Maybe it's b/c I've babysat so much, but I feel like once you get to know a child, all of the good outweighs the bad of the fits.  He!!, I still have fits at 25 occassionally but it's not appropriate for me to scream/cry like a little kid, although sometimes I wish it were.

And I love the "why"/inquisitive-ness like Megan said.  It's like you're geniuely bringing new knowledge into their life when you answer their questions.  I love when I'm babysitting and a word comes up in conversation and the kids ask what it means, then later they'll use the word and say "Hannah you taught me that". Such a cool feeling!
