Wedding Stuff in Lafayette area
Hi. I am an old knottie (got married 7/17/04) helping a newly engaged friend plan a wedding. I got married in Kansas City, so I am not familiar with the local Lafayette area vendors.
Items #1 and 2 are location and photographer. The couple is an outside the box artsy one, not interested in a church wedding. Other than the Lafayette Theatre, I need suggestions. Also looking for photographer suggestions that are good, reputable and won't cost an arm and a leg. They are hoping to do engagement pix this summer.
Any help is appreciated.
Wendy

Ask me stuff.
Unfortunately, we didn't have him, but several friends have used Ian Michael Green. He's an awesome photographer, great with kids, and listens to what you want. I tried a new photographer and wished I'd gone with Ian. I'd have less blurry photos if I had. http://www.ianmichaelgreen.com/
As far as places to have it, there's The Trails, Duncan Hall, Purdue has several places on campus that'll let you rent out space (a girl I went to high school with had hers in Mackey Arena, on the court). My husband wanted to do ours at the Fowler House, but it was already taken for our date. We had our reception at the Trails, and it was phenomenal!
Look into Purdue Memorial Union or our on the lawns of memorial mall, its a huge open space with lots of beautiful campus scenery.
Tim Gaines is a wonderful photographer, not from the Lafayette area but he does travel and doesn't charge a whole lot. Look at chicagophosphotography.com Very friendly, professional, and open to whatever you want for your day!
Hope this helps.
You could also look for photogs in the Indy area since the drive isn't too far. The photogs I would recommend from Lafayette are higher end, so probably out of the desired price range.
The Trails is nice. I wish Riehle Bros. was what it used to be - you could rent it out back in the day and they had great events there.
If it's not a large ceremony/reception, McGraw's could be an option, or one of the restaurants downtown. Purdue's Union or the gardens are always options too.
