What are your favorite workout songs? I need to put something upbeat together to help keep me going.
Re: Workout Music
Ke$ha--Blow
anything BEP
Prodigy always makes me want to run really fast even if I am tired.
Lady Gaga--Born this Way
Katy Perry--ET
Anything featuring Pitbull
Rihanna--S&M
Sometimes 80's pop songs (the cheesy ones) are also motivating to work out to.
I use Social Distortion... I had to buy the CD in order to work out to it because I didn't want to ruin my record! Totally giving away my age here... LOL.
Humming-
"Her eye's are a deeper blue, she likes her hair that color too!
She can even wear a dress, that doesn't mean she'll ever confess.
Sheeeeeee's, Mommy's Little Mon-ster!"
Offspring - Bad Habit
Zac Brown Band - Devil Went Down to Georgia (they do an awesome, really fast cover)
Michael Jackson - Dirty Diana and The Way You Make Me Feel
Brittney Spears
Disturbed
Garth Brooks
Mighty Mighty Bosstones
Queen
(yes, I probably have the most random ipod)
I like to run to Rage Against the Machine, Green Day, Pearl Jam, U2...
I also would recommend using Pandora and setting up a "workout" station. That way you can add what you like and it will also generate songs based on your taste.
I like really long songs when I work out so I have some brass band stuff by Rebirth Brass Band and New Birth Brass Band. Cowboy Mouth (especially the live stuff), Galatic (love the last album they put out!), Outkast, and Jem also stay on my workout list.
And I recently discovered Bubba Sparx...yup, I'm always 5 to 10 years behind on my musical discoveries. I should be ashamed, right? DH always laughs at me because I find something that's new to me and it's something that he bought when we were in college.
I second Lady Gaga and Girl Talk - Girl Talk in particular is awesome because his albums are a free download and are meant to run continuously with no pauses. They got me through the rougher part of the Couch to 5k training plan.
Also, if you have an iPhone/iPod, I enjoy the Indie Soup Runner podcasts.
Someone's getting a little brother!
DH introduced me to this site called Song Lair, and you can download all these free mash-ups and playlists. Pretty awesome. I'm not really sure how to use it though. I tell him the mash-ups I like/want and he does it all for me.
I can listen to almost anything though while working out. I actually really like listening to Jimmy Buffett and Michael Buble while running, I know that's a little odd.
**ETA- Song Lair, NOT Sound Lair**
