It seems like such a crazy waste of money to me but I guess I can see how people think "If I just win, all my problems go away".
Do you play? And if so, why? (I mean, obviously to win money but there has to be a reason to put down real money when your chances are so slim).
Re: Do you play the lottery?
Well, sure the odds are ridiculous but there are people who win every day. All of those people had the same odds I do.
So that is why I buy a ticket when the jackpot gets really big. Why not? Its fun to daydream about what I would do with the money. If you are only spending less than $5 a month out of your fun money I don't see the big deal. If you are playing multiple times a day? Yeah, you have problems.
Nope.
My parents would play when the jackpot got REALLY big, but never won anything.
My brother plays pretty regularly. He has a relatively high paying job, is single, and still lives at home so he has extra money. His reason is that someone ends up winning--could be him!
I can't justify spending money on lottery tickets at this point, since we don't really have much extra money at the moment.

We play when it gets really big. DH has a whole plan for what he's going to do when we win too - LOL!
Its just fun to play and dream sometimes.
My Dad plays the lottery every week and has for 30+ years. IDK, its his thing. He used to have a whole system for picking numbers too. He's won a decent amount over the years, so he's probably broken even.
Same here...it's fun to dream, isn't it?
Yep, same here. cheaper than a movie ticket and gives us a couple of hours of fun spending our imaginary money. We really get into it...searching real estate online for our dream house, H spent a ridiculous amount of time one day picking out his dream RV, planning imaginary vacations, etc.
(not that we can't do that anyway...but it's much more "real" when you actually have a lottery ticket in your hand)
My Goodness...another food blog. Featuring: Macarons from a old post with a photo taken by my mom for a break from my crappy food photos!

I don't, but my grandfather did every week for years and years. I like to dream about how I would spend the money though (if I did buy a ticket, bc of course if I bought a ticket I'd win ha) - every day on the ride home I pass one of those signs telling you the jackpot and I think, "hmmm what would I do with that money...."
I have a friend whose uncle gave them all lotto tickets one year for christmas. Hers ended up being a million. She paid off her SLs and bought a house in cash. I'm so jealous.
