Re: Your post-pregnancy body

  • I was down to my pre-pregnancy weight by sept.  I decided then that I was going to stop drinking soda and try to watch what I was eating. Not necessarily diet, since my hubby is a bad influence.....lol

I am now down 7 more lbs. Less then what I was when I got pregnant. But I think this is it, im going to have to exercise! So I started walking with A in the mornings.  Thats all I got so far!

  • i literally lost nearly all the baby weight by 3 weeks pp...and then winter happened and my weight and flubber have steadily grown. there was a lot of baking and parties and eating. i do need a lot of calories for breastfeeding and for a while now i've been very careful with my food choices. but the scale isn't budging. ::sigh::

i tend to eat less in the summer because i'm notinto heavy meals when it's hot. so maybe that will help some. when bf is over, i'll be at ww.

  • I dropped 45lbs post Jack in 6 months.  Then I got pregnant again.  LOL

I ate less.  Walked a lot and rode a bike on the bike path 1-2 times a week for an average of 5+ miles each time. Basically I was very active but never had to diet in my life and was always super thin with high metabolism.

In Sept I am joining a gym.  As of now I have not gained too much weight this time, but my starting weight was +15 of preJack.  But, I have also been smarter with foods and not just sitting with a dozen cannolis all the time.

This exactly (as I am eating McDonald's right now).

  • Is a mess. I am still up 10 pounds 8 weeks pp. I want to lose another 20-30 pounds. I was 120 when I got married 2 yrs ago and I want to go back to that. I also need to start working out to tone up my stomach and hopefully shrink my thighs.

  • Ugh, it's just bad.  I had lost all pg weight within a month and was doing great through December (was still breastfeeding several times a day) and weighed less than I did pre-preg..  After my m/c in January and the abrupt stop to bf'ing at the same time (supply stopped with the other issue) I started a slow gain and now am not at a size I'm happy with and just feel gross :(

A friend of mine is starting a weekly Stroller Strides type group on Fridays beginning next week that I'm going to do. I'm also planning to do a lot more power stroller walking on my own, instead of just slow walks around town.  Also, as Melanie mentioned, I tend to eat a lot more fruit and lighter meals in the summer so, hopefully that will help too.

  • I'm 15 months PP and I'm +10 pounds pre-pregnancy weight still. But I've been walking a LOT with A and doing zumba 2x's per week. That along with just watching my diet has been enough and hopefully I'll lose the last 10 this summer.

Since A started walking in March, I've been eating a lot less because I'm so busy chasing her around. I don't snack anymore at all, and we are also reno'ing our kitchen so I can't cook which stinks but I've lost more weight since we started that.

  • RUNNING!!!  I swear by it!

  • well I was very careful while preg so I only gained 21 lbs.  I refused to "eat for two" no matter what people told me and I was on my scale every day.  By 1 month pp managed to lose the 21 lbs and lost an additional 12-14 lbs since then.

I think for me it's because I am EP and still am careful about what I eat.  I still have my glass of wine every couple weeks, eat chocolate etc but rather than going out and have a hershey bar I found dark chocolate covered pomegrante (sp?).  It's a 1/4 cup per serving but very good.  I'm also still addicted to the steamfresh white rice/mixed veggie.  instead of white pasta I picked up those Garden Delights which gives an extra serving of veggies.

Tomorrow night I'm starting weight watchers again with my mom so hopefully I can lose more.  H and I also plan on trying to walk more if we ever had some free time.

  • I was pretty tiny before being pregnant, and I ended up keeping on a little less than half my pregnancy weight.  Now I'm your average size 10 american.

And sorry, while I watch what I eat, until K is a little bit older....working 12 hours a day with a nearly hour commute each way and having her by myself at night is not leading well to a whole lot of exercise time.  But its okay.  For now, I'll deal.

  • I am about 10 pounds heavier than I was PP- I had lost a lot of weight before I got pregnant ( 30 of the pounds I put on doing so many years of fertility treatments).  I had 5 more that I wanted to lose before I got pg- so if I lose another 15, I will be happy.  I have started running and really eating well- I am hopeful I will take it off this summer as I will actually have time to work out.

  • I'm only 3 weeks post pregnancy but I am already down 27 lbs!  Unfortunately, I gained a total of 44lbs due to swelling and being on partial bed rest (and I'm blaming 10lbs on purely breast weight, lol).  I'm obviously not allowed to exercise yet but carrying around 9lbs 6oz of baby that won't let me rest a ton or eat much at once is definitely a help to my weight loss!  BFing is also a major contributer.  I still have 30lbs I want to lose after the pregnancy weight but once I'm given the okay, I'm breaking out the Kinect.  I'm going to try Zumba, Dance Central and Biggest Loser games.  I am NOT a gym girl.  I hate working out in front of people.  I'll also be going back to work in July which means I'll be going on hour long walks with the little girl I nanny and chasing her around.  :D

This! I don't work 12 hour days but I am out of the house for 12 hours and am home at night with her and it is tough...some nights I don't eat until 10.  I did lose about 15lbs before leaving the hospital (almost 10 of which was her).  I gained well more than the average 20lbs or whatever it is.  I did WW years ago and lost a ton of weight and so I know I can do it again...my old leader doesn't do it anymore and every leader since then just doesn't compare so I might have to try online again...I did that once though and it didn't work.

Perfect example - I left the house this AM for work at 615, I just got home (its 845). K came and left with me.   Luckily, my mom managed to feed her something this evening.  I am absolutely exhausted so I had to pick up something to eat.  I will be going to bed as soon as I finish it....

  • amen for this email stream!  i gained a whopping 49lbs with sue.  it was a little different for me b/c shortly before i got preg i was training for a triathlon, did the triathlon, had a m/c (didnt know i was preg) and was told not to workout for the first few months of my next pregnancy (with sue).  after she was born i lost a bunch but held onto 22 lbs of it for a long time.  then i went back to the gym.  lost a little more.  then i joined WW and lost the rest.  i had never done WW (or any weight loss program before) and it helped a ton and was surprisingly easy.  i'm off ww now, but i really work it at the gym about 4 times a week. i do weight training and cardio.  when i need a break from the gym i run or do yoga. the weird thing is i weigh less than when i got pregnant, but my body feels worse.  then i remind myself muscle weighs more than fat and that's why i still feel gross.  i'm slowly realizing we are just gonna have to work harder at it after kids. sucks right?
