I'm having a hard time finding good info about honeysuckle and things I've read sort of scare me (hard to get rid of, etc). Any good resources or advice about keeping honeysuckle? I got it from a plant my mom has in a new home (she didn't plant it and knows nothing about it either) and would like to plant it this weekend if possible but I am trying to plan where I want it if it's going to take over other plants. Thanks!
Re: Honeysuckle
If you actually want honeysuckle, I would probably put it in a pot or a raised bed with a trellis.
It can and does spread very easily and quickly. We have it coming over from our neighbor's yard/jungle. It covers our fence, our plum tree and is even pulling down our 20+ ft. tall bamboo (which I don't mind - I call it the battle of the invasives). Every year we cut it back on our side and every year it comes right back.
Thank you! I think I will try a pot. We got a trellis last night but still aren't sure where we want to plant. We have some work to do on our landscaping and have plans for a new bed along our garage but don't want that to take over everything. I don't even have a clue what variety it is other than it's a vine.
Wow! This is nothing like my mom's honeysuckle, which comes back every year but never seems bigger than the last. It climbs the trellis, but really doesn't go anywhere. Maybe hers is a different variety. I kind of like the idea of one that could spread like crazy...
"The meek shall inherit the earth" isn't about children. It's about deer. We're all going to get messed the fuckup by a bunch of cloned super-deer.- samfish2bcrab
Sometimes I wonder if scientists have never seen a sci-fi movie before. "Oh yes, let's create a super species of deer. NOTHING COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG." I wonder if State Farm offers a Zombie Deer Attack policy. -CaliopeSpidrman
