H is maxed out on his vacation hrs and in dire need. We want to relax on a beach and do nothing, and we want it to be fairly inexpensive. Sometime between June 27 and July 8. We are thinking anywhere between Clearwater and Islamorada. Any one have any recs for nice inexpensive rooms on a beach? This part is very important.
Re: Need a vaca
I don't know where Islamorada is, so this may be a useless idea, but we love going to Marco Island. I don't have a cheap rec for a place to stay but there has to be something!
Also - I used to use Priceline all the time, so pick the beach you want, pick a 4 star or higher hotel on the beach, and put in a max price. You will get something. You just have to do it last minute. We did this once and ended up staying at the Sirata in St Pete with an ocean view for labor day weekend, for cheap. It was awesome.
Good idea, I'll play around on Priceline. I'm just doing a little preliminary search and came up with this that looks nice. Islamorada is a FL key, one of the first ones, close to Miami.

Now I am just keeping my fingers crossed that this one is reasonably priced.
So I checked out the link above and was like, 'this place is sweeet!' Then I looked at the prices.
Wow. $750 a night. $7000 for the week. Hm.... I don't think so.

You mean the Islamorada Moorings place right? lol, yeah, I missed that part before I posted it here! It would be a beautiful place for a company paid vaca but since this is on our dime,,, Pink Shell will run us 1050 for Mon-Fri. Much more doable. Now we are looking at Sundial Beach and Golf Resort.
So it's between Pink Shell on Ft Meyers and Sundial on Sanibel Island. They are about the same price range. Never been to either Ft Meyers or Sanibel so I don't know which would be better for us.
My ILs stay at Hideaway sands on St Pete beach and it is pretty nice. It is right next to the Don Cesar (so if you want to go out for a nice 2nd anniversary dinner you can.)
There are also many mom and pop restaurants around that area too which are good and reasonably priced. Each room has a queen bed, kitchenette, couch and TV. Full size refrigerators are included as well.

Ft. Myers Beach will be more crowded. There are lots of restaurants and bars and stuff like that along the strip so if you want somwhere that you can walk to other things easily, it's good for that. If you want a more relaxed atmosphere though, then Sanibel would be better.
No bars for this girl! I am definately thinking relaxing. I think Sanibel it is, thanks
