Am I over-reacting?

I hate it when people show up to my house unannounced. I would not mind quite so much if they did not just let themselves in...  My nephew is in town and he is staying with us. He got here Thursday evening and I am leaving to take him to the airport on Tuesday morning. He flew in with our friend that lives in AZ, her niece graduated today, her brother is the one that picked them up from the airport.

Thursday I talked to my mom about an hour before they got to my house but she didn't mention that she was going to stop by. 15 minutes after my nephew got here (around 8pm) my mom showed up and just walked right on in. Not too big of a deal, our friend and her brother were still here too. They all left around 9. At 10 pm Ella was sleeping on the floor on her Boppy. I am not sure why DH put her there, but she was laying down there and it wasn't a big deal. Until my brother showed up...without calling... and just let himself in. Thankfully she slept through the dog barking at him, but then he picked up our nephew and gave him a "hug" and spun him in circles, stomping, which then woke up Ella. He stayed until 1am.

Today my sister says that she thinks my mom is planning something for tomorrow because she asked if my nephew likes steak and shrimp scampi. If she is planning on coming here she really needs to tell me. I don't care who is staying with me... I don't think that gives them the right to just show up here and come on in. They do this every time my sister/kids visit. I thought I made myself clear after my brothers stunt that I want them to call first (or at least freekin knock!), but I guess we will see what happens.

sorry... long

Re: Am I over-reacting?

  • No.  I would feel the same way.  I don't like unnannounced visitors either and now that you have Ella it makes it that much more of an annoyance.
