Holy Mackerel you guys pay a lot for a haircut!

I pay $60....BUT I only go like every 3-4 months. I used to have a girl that I paid $30 for and I went to her for like 5 years but she quit cutting hair.... :(

I HATE my hair. I seriously cried the whole 30 minute drive to work because its so awful.  I used to go to a place in Waco occasionally, and Aveda salon. Thinking of going back, because the guy really knows hair. We "broke up" because he did my hair at my wedding, each of my girls paid him individually, and then my MIL paid him. It was three girls $25 each, MIL paid him $200 for her hair and the three girls and a tip, MIL was PISSED, DH brought it up to him that he was double paid and he gave us back $50. Should I go back to him? He is really expensive too (well is in my opinion, about $150 for cut and full highlight)

Oh no. :(. I'm sorry you hate your hair. There's noting worse. I've been there!

I wouldn't go back to that guy. Sounds like he tried to screw y'all over! But, if you can get over that, it may be worth it for the peace of mind knowing you'll like the outcome of your next appointment.

I don't even know where else to go, its hard to research salons. My hair is severly damanged. I wish there was a miracle pill that would just make it grow fast!

Prenatal Vitamins.  My hair is growing too fast.  I got highlights middle of April and I needed them redone early May.  I have been putting it off because I can't stand to spend that much money so quick.  I'm debating whether to drop the highlights while I'm taking the prenatal vitamins.  I hate my natural color but I just can't justify that much money every 4 weeks.  I use to be able to go almost 8 weeks since my hair never grew.

My only B&M is that it's Monday and of course my coworker called in.  This is 14 days since the beginning of the year.  Almost every Monday we get our PTO she calls in "sick".  So frustrating!

Leslie- I clipped a few coupons this Sat!  I am still wondering how I will save on groceries as all the coupons I got were household items or health and beauty.

I also clipped some coupons and am trying to figure out how to save!  And DH got along great with both of the other husbands.  I'm sure your DH could find something in common!

I did a weekly Albertsons food only shopping trip last night with the coupon post in mind, the total was $50 before coupons and $27 afterward. I did a second trip to another grocery store because they had something we love on great sale, and it was $47 before the savings card/coupons and $18 afterward. So it is possible to save on food. :)

The drugstore deals this week don't thrill me but I am going to do a section on those in the post too for non-food items.

Oh hey this is WR, but the girl on the McG blog this week and I were friends in HS and I can't wait to see her wedding.

  • Thanks everyone!!  I feel good because the new vet is actually good friends with my old vet (old was in Allen and I was tired of driving all the way out there from Carrollton.  New vet is down the street) and they were both Aggie Vet school grads so that can't hurt ;)

For real! I have super fast growing hair now too. Which I am thankful for after the recent hair school grad/side-swept bangs incident.

Most of the coupons I clipped were for Matt like BOGO on old spice, his shaving cream, and on the tooth paste we use so I clipped those.  I am definitely interested in the grocery savings because that is where we spend the bulk of our money.  Matt and I eat drastically different and so on most nights I am making 2 meals.

  • I don't have a B&M today.  I had a good weekend that was equal parts productive, relaxing and fun.

Lauren-  Sorry about your pet.  I will send postive thoughts your way.

CRCruisin-  So I have never been to PP, but I did go to the county health department for some shots earlier this year.  The clientele was sketchy and it wasn't the nicest facillity, but I had a pretty positive experience.  Crossing my fingers for you today!

Yes  We had a great time!

Mrs.Lynch: Did he know he was being double paid?  Maybe he just thought the girls were tipping him?  I don't know.  If you love him and your current hair situation makes you cry, then it might be worth going back to him.

    Lauren: Sorry about Gypsy.

B&M: Nothing really, just tired and I hate Mondays in general.

I didn't know until after the honeymoon. I was there when all the girls wrote a check or gave him cash, MIL was last to get her hair done, she said that she told him "I want to pay for all the girls hair" and gave him $200.  I don't know if he just forgot or what. But how can you forget you got paid?

  • Lauren: I hope everything goes well with Gypsy!

Summer:  I don't have a wedding band, but if I did, I would not have worn it before the wedding.

I think the cost of a freaking hair cut is ridiculous!!  I refuse to go to a salon because it's too expensive.  One of my friends that went to hair school does my hair at her house and only charges me $85 for all over highlight and trim.  If I went to a salon it would be $120-$150.  CRAZY!

    B&M: it's Monday...need I say more?

  • saramc- Thanks for the positive thoughts!! :)

MrsLynch- I would just ask him about it...even if he honestly did not know, a good stylist would pay you back. Especially if he thinks about how much $ he can make off of you by cutting your hair for years vs. a one time $50 "slip up"

  • Sara - Maybe it's just me, but I wouldn't go back to him.  There are lots of great stylists out there, especially at that price point.

ETA:  Oops- That was for MrsLynch. Sorry!

For some reason the buttons at the top of the comment box don't work when on a mac.  So I can't bold, italicize, link to, or use cute smileys.  :(

Anyone else have this problem?  It is the same on the home and work laptops (both mac's).

    Third Anniversary

I am still sad that I missed the couple's G2G.

My B&M is that I ended up in the ER last night with severe stomach cramps, chills, and sweating like crazy and shaking. We went in around 11pm and the first thing they did was to look for the baby's heartbeat which they couldn't find, and then they shot me up with morphine. 30 minutes later, the ultrasound tech came and finally was able to tell us the baby was alright. It was sooo stressful. They released me earlier this morning, and I am laying on the couch still in some pain then going to see my doctor around noon.

  • Lauren- Sorry about Gypsy but I'm glad they are benign.

I snuck my band on once at home only for a few minutes because with the e-ring and band my hand was pretty sparkly and I was amazed.

    My B&M's:

Thanks to "The Help" I am getting nothing accomplished at home.  With the exception of when we were out of the house this weekend, I read the entire time.  I am not interested in doing anything until I get this book done.

I'm also trying to finish getting caught up on season 6 of Rescue Me so I was watching and reading yesterday only to realize several episodes in that I was watching season 5 (which I also pretty much missed).

DH has this friend who is not interested in settling down anytime soon, or so he tells us.  Every time we see him, it seems he has a new girl so it was no surprise it was someone new in December.  Except Katy said they had been together since June and he was trying to get with a girl in front of DH and I in November.  In March, she spilled the beans that she was working on moving to his city and even transferring ISD's to be closer to him.  I'm talking about moving from Arlington to Fort Worth.  I thought wow they must be getting serious considering she has a son.  We hang out with this friend again last weekend and I'm thinking she will be there but she's not; instead there is some random person he met the week before and he's testing her out.  Then he tells everyone that Katy is practically trying to move in with him and not only does he not want her moving in with him or moving to his area, he's not super thrilled that she has a son and he doesn't want to raise someone else's kid so he's looking to end things.  What happens this weekend?  Katy calls from friends cell asking what movers we used. ::head meet desk::

What do you say, if anything?  Kill the messenger, right?  While I do like her, we aren't that close so I know it's not my business and I don't know what is actually going on but at the same time I don't know if they are just dating each other and other people or are they BF/GF because I can see after a year why she would think it's somewhat serious but I want to yell run.  As I write this, I realize that this friend is more of a DB than I originally thought.  Thankfully we don't hang out as much anymore and DH is realizing how sh!tty he is to him.  Is there some girl code for this?

  • T&Ps for you Kathy!  I bet that was so scary!
  • I know she said she was in a funk, but where is Brianna?
  • Jaymi - honestly I'm not sure you should say anything.  That's a tough position to be in, but it's hard to know if it's your place to say anything or not.  Plus, if you do say something - will she even care?  And then it's very awkward for future double dates.  But, for sure, that friend is a DB.
