This is my first day as a housewife.

And it is not going very well.

For one thing, I had planned to go to the store to get the goods to make the husband a really great lunch but...I am still in bed. I have actually showered but I just changed into another set of PJs.

I hope he is okay with hot dogs because at this point, that is all he is going to get.

Re: This is my first day as a housewife.

  • Umm... I'm pretty sure that if I'm ever a SAHM I'll do nothing but lie around in my pj's all the time, every day (with some occasional taking care of my child, probably). That's why I should keep my day job. ;)

My H's favorite meal is hot dogs, though, so I'd most likely be okay. :)

  • I'm a housewife during the summer and I gotta say the most difficult thing is finding motivation to do anything!  DH came home from work the other day and asked why I was all dressed and ready (wearing makeup, hair fixed, etc.)...I told him it makes me feel a *little* less lazy when I actually shower and get ready Embarrassed
  • I would probably be the same way my 1st day too. Enjoy your time as a SAHW.

  • BAHA!  It is damn near noon and while I have had a shower I am in my robe and still have wet hair.  However, my baby is dressed and ready to go!  I have not cooked lunch but I have marinated the pork chops for dinner tonight.  If we didn't have an appointment for DD today I probably would not have had my shower yet.  :)

Enjoy being lazy for a few days, you deserve it!!!

  • I also sort of took a nap.

Okay, when DH gets here, lunch will be ready.  AND I *WILL* go to the store and get stuff for a fun dinner.

Also, he informed me this morning that I am now only allowed to shop at Goodwill for clothes and the half price book store.

I think this will last through the summer but that is it. LOL.

  • So I'm kind of in your boat as well while I'm looking for jobs, and I'm about in my third week of it. What I am doing is trying to keep a relatively structured schedule for myself. I do have a part-time work from home job that pays a small amount (it was perfect for when I was a student and allowed me to cash-flow my tuition), but I feel very retro (read: like a 1950s housewife) in that I do all the cooking and laundry and half the cleaning. I go to the library a lot too. It's not something that I could do forever, but it's kind of a nice break for a little while.
  • I'm a housewife during the summer, and I'm like Jamie--I have a really hard time finding motivation to do anything. There have been many days where I go into panic mode around 4, picking up the house and racing to the grocery store for dinner ingredients. DH doesn't care what I do during the day, but I still feel like if I'm at home I should at least have a clean house and a decent dinner on the table every night.

  • I can see your hubby being giddy about hot dogs for lunch.  I don't think he'll mind.  Wink

I pictured you lounging by the pool today.  Screw grocery shopping, you've got a tan to work on lady!  Well, compared to me you don't, but if I were you I'd be one bronzed babe by the end of the summer!

  • Snowful - LOL.  I WOULD be by the pool reading my smutty Henry VIII books, sadly, I got major fried when you were over here YESTERDAY and I think staying inside today is a good idea.  My back hurts so bad, I can barely lay on my back - it is bright red and DH is convinced I will end up blistering.  I hardly ever burn so this is Grade A horrible.

This! And I'm with the others. I'm a SAHW during the summers. I'm lazy for maybe the first week. I get bored with it and find random wierd things to do after that. You could always have "playdates" with other wifeys.

Personal question time...Did you leave because of the special needs stripper?!Stick out tongue

You're not the only one with a burn, but mine's not too bad,  Despite all the sunscreen I applied, the tops of my bewbs are a soft pink, only accentuated by the low cut dress I'm wearing today. Oh well, at least they don't hurt - I hate sunburned boobies!

    OMG.

  • I think being lazy for the first couple days would be nice.
