moving to St. Louis in July
hi everyone!
I currently live in Oklahoma, i just got married on May 21st. My husband just got a job in St. Louis, so we will be moving at the end of July.
i'm very excited about relocating!
i was hoping for some advice, or recommendations. good places to eat? a reliable veterinarian? bad parts of town to avoid?
lay it on me, ladies; i need all the help i can get.

Re: moving to St. Louis in July
Well the west end of STL is definitely the nicest. "The Hill", Lafayette Square, Forest Park are all great places with things going on. The landing and the St. Louis Riverfront also have good eats and free concerts during the summer. Don't go into North St. Louis if you don't have too, and do not for any reason get lost in East St. Louis (even though its on the Illinois side of the river.)
Welcome! Do you know where you are moving to yet? St. Louis has a lot to offer, and there are many different areas. I personally love the Central West End, The Loop, and Soulard.
Depending on where you live, I would be happy to recommend our vet, but we are in the suburbs, so if you're living in the city, it may not be the most convenient for you.
This board is generally dead, but hopefully we can get some more active posters.

we don't have a place nailed down yet, but we're looking at some apartments. on google maps it looks like they are between Mehlville and Oakville.
My husband will be working at SLU, so it will be in that area.
i appreciate the replies!
If I were you, I'd look in the Maplewood or Kirkwood areas. Close access to highways to get to SLU (a lot closer than the southern areas you mentioned), lots of young people, eateries, and things to do. You can rent a house or apt for not too much if you want to live in the suburbs.
It's going to be HOOOOOOT when you get here. Be prepared.
I highly suggest Clark Animal Hospital for a vet. I've had experience with a lot of vets and they are the BEST! They have been really good and caring through a hard time for me, and always can fit you in. They have 5 vets and all are equally as great. I see Dr. Tim usually but I've seen them all.
I live on the IL side of the river near, O'Fallon, IL but am only about 20 min. from downtown. There are a lot of great places to live near St. Louis! There are definitely nice lofts if you like downtown living and suburbs if you don't. On the IL side, O'Fallon and Edwardsville are nice areas and get you away from the dangers and inconviences of city living. Both are less than 30 min commute to downtown also.
Stay out of East St. Louis in IL and North St. Louis unless you are driving through on one of the highways.
i'm actually moving this coming friday morning! here in oklahoma it's been 100-106 every day for weeks, so it's bound to be cooler in St. Louis.
i can't to make the 8+ hour drive with my two dogs! (sarcasm!)
we will be in south st. louis. ...or south st. louis county... or both? my zip will be 63129, which when i type it into google maps says it's actually Oakville?
(i'm confused by the counties, and St. Louis is a big city, so it's hard to keep track!)
Oakville is a good location. There are restaurants everywhere on the main street, Telegraph. Hopefully you are closer to the highways because Telegraph gets very congested around rush hours. Good luck with the move, hopefully all is smooth!
I'm in Fenton and LOVE it!
