can anyone tell me where all the splash pads are located? i know of the ones at legion park, lions park, and ashby park. what times are they open from & to? are they open on weekends?
are there any other fun places with water that we can take the kids to? i know of the area by downtown library and then natural playscape at jester park- is there anywhere else?
for those with toddlers- do you think its worth it to go to the aquatic centers or is it a waste of money and i'm better off just sticking to the splash pads?!
thanks & sorry if this has already been asked.
Re: splash pads question
Splash Pad = Wadding Pool?
if so, there is one at the end of my street, Sayers Park, it's little, but fun. When I called yesterday, the guy said, they're open from 10-4 and they start draining them at like 2:30. When El and I went up last night, they were still draining it, that was after 4.
Hope that helps.
OH! And we took El to the pool on Sunday, she loved it! She just enjoyed people watching. There seemed to be a lot of toddlers there.
The Des Moines Parks and Rec page lists all of the splash pads and wasing pools in the Des Moines Parks.

Clive has my favorite aquatic center because it has a shaded toddler safe area where they won't (usually) get splashed by big kids or lost in a tide.
It's pricey though. $7+ I think. Ankeny is great too because there's really no standing water but it's a little rougher in my opinion and the water is always circulating so it's freeeezing.
Ashby is our favorite splash pad because you can see everywhere easily but parking can be tricky sometimes.
Most open at 10am.
I think clive opens an hour early one day a week for smaller kids...but I'm not sure. You might want to check out the city of clive page. I've been dying to go there for years- it looks so fun!
