Working Pumping Moms

I've been asked to go to an all day meeting in Rockland. I would love to go...but how do I pump? When I was giving exams to 5 people it was easy because I could just go out for a few minutes. This is going to a bigger deal and I feel unsure about how to skip out to pump, where to pump.

Where is your meeting?  Could you do it at lunch?  I don't know how often you pump I didn't get the chance to do that since the kid was off the boob at 6 weeks thanks to my emergency surgery so I'm not a whole lot of help.

I had to go to an all day conference while I was pumping and I did it in the car during the morning break and a lunch break.

I pump three times a day - 10, 1, 3:30. And my supply is so fickle that I'm afraid if I skip that I will see my supply dip.

I just got the agenda, I would be gone from 9-2. So I guess I could just pump before and after and skip one session...and hope for the best!

One session on just one day shouldn't mess things up much; you'll probably get a really good pump during that second session.  I went to an all day conference at a hotel once, and just popped out for breaks; I asked the desk lady if there was a private place I could pump and they gave me my own conference room.  There was actually another pumping mom that used it after me.

I had several all day meetings when I was pumping.  Once I pumped in the car 2x, and another time I was at a library and another pumping mom asked if she could have a private space (after they offered the bathroom).  We went in after each other in a secluded storage area, but it was better than nothing.  Another time there was a training at a church and I used the nursery which worked fine until a maintance man came in wondering why the door was shut and I screamed.  He was like "geeeeze" from my reaction to which I explained the reason for my reaction and he got all embarrassed.  I should have put a huge sign on the door with a picture of a cow I guess.  After that I found another room with only 1 door and I put the chair I was using right up against it so no one could push by me.  Good times!

I went to a 2 day conference and called ahead to talk to the coordinator about options.  They coordinated a space and brought me to a room that worked perfectly.
