Menu input?

It will be immediately following my daughter's baptism so 1230 or 1ish.  Everything should be set up when we get back so I wasn't going to do apps.  There will be 25 people, some very picky, and some kids.

Meal: baked chicken in light cream sauce, parsley potatoes, california medley, fruit salad, rolls, peaches and cream cheesecake, chocolate cake.

I'm also thinking I'd add a tossed salad.  Since our events tend to last awhile I have some cheese and crackers and other little salty snacks for later.  Am I missing something?

Re: Menu input?

  • A ziti or eggplant. Personally, I would get rid of the cheesecake and keep the regular cake and add cookies instead. I would add another food (are you doing trays? Maybe add a half tray of something?)

It could be me, but I'm not sure that's enough for 25 people.. how about mac and cheese for the kids?

  • The cheesecake is part of the catering package.  I can guarantee the eggplant wouldn't be eaten.  Mac and cheese did cross my mind but just as another side.  The kids are 8-13 so past the picky stage.

  • Um... YUM.  That sounds so good.  I'd add the tossed salad and have cheese/crackers for later, but yeah, that sounds fantastic.

  • I think that adding the green salad is a good idea, and I think the rest of it sounds fine.

I think adding some cookies would be nice too - you could even pick up some from the grocery store, doesn't need to be anything too fancy.

I guess when I read some very picky, I thought you meant the kids... not the 25 guests in general.

Heee no.  My ILs are very picky and weird.  I had to explain tortellini to them.  They didn't even want to try it.

  • that sounds like a great menu. I think adding a green salad is perfect.
  • Agreed--the green salad sounds like a good addition.  I think cookies might be a nice addition, especially as a sweet accompaniment to the cheese and crackers toward the end.

Otherwise it sounds awesome and so nice it will be set up when you get home.

I'd eat the cheesecake over the cake, so I wouldn't say get rid of it.  I think that's enough dessert too (cake and cheesecake) No need for cookies, IMO.
Salad is a good idea. Munchies for later are a good idea too, if people will be sticking around that long.
