Well it looks like our (approximately) 40 year old air conditioner is finally going out.
Does anyone have any recommendations for an HVAC person or company?
TIA!
Re: HVAC Recs?

they have done great work for us and i know other nesties have used them as well. in full disclosure, my mom's boyfriend is 50% owner of this business but we had great experiences personally so i am confident recommending them.

PM me if you want to know about my experience with Standard Heating/Cooling - it was NOT good.
Have you checked with your gas/electric utility to see if they're running any rebate offers for new HVAC equipment? Might be worth price checking it to see if it would be a good deal. I know that Xcel does kick in some $ if you get products with a certain efficiency level and I think you can choose off of their list of contractors for install.
Now that I called and made my appointment for the week, I will recommend Kath Heating and Air. They are great!
Having the air go out this week really sucks!

i hope that you have filed a complaint with them and given them a chance to make it right. i'm privy to some customer service conversations and they always do their best to give their customers a great experience, even if there were some hiccups initially.
I just need to rave about Kath again.
I called and made an appt right before my last post (maybe an hour ago?) and they told me the earliest they could be here was by Friday. I didn't complain a bit (after all, I am sure they are swamped)
20 minutes later I got a call - they had looked us up and realized we were a repeat customer (purchased a furnace a few years ago, and had them move our air conditioner last year so we could put in a patio) - they wanted to know if we were home right now. I have someone in our backyard right now looking at our air conditioner. Less than 90 minutes between call and service - can't beat that.
(to be fair, I may have mentioned that I am pregnant, and that I had to schedule Friday's appt. around my husband's cancer radiation treatment... )
We have never had anything but an amazing experience with Kath.

my read shelf:
Yep - I did give them the chance to make it right and unfortunately, the customer service part of things is what sealed the deal.
I might be too late but... we've used Dean's Heating/AC/Plumbing and they've always been professional, upfront about the work and their prices are fantastic.
