right?  ive only ever received them as gifts, never given one (which is what this is).  i know places i can go that are a drive away, but i figured there's got to me something near me, or online.

lishie - thanks for the rec, ill look into it!

No problem! I've always bought in store. They have a great selection!

  • I'm almost positive Lenox makes mezuzah's.

yeah, they do... but i want to get the scroll and mezuzah in one place and i dont know where i can do that. and this is for outside, so im thinking lenox might not be the best choice?  i dont know, this is for my brother's house, he yelled at me for not having one after i asked him what he wanted for a housewarming gift LOL but thanks :)

  • The Judiaca (sp) house in Teaneck sells them and have kosher scrolls-depending on who you ask-those can be tricky.

We have them in our store. No scroll though.
  • A lot of the independent judaica stores have closed.  Rudi's pottery, in 17 north in Paramus used to have an incredible judaica section inside, but, for some reason, I'm thinking they closed.  You can call and find out.

There are judaica stores all over Cedar Lane in Teaneck and you'll see them if you just drive down the street.

Most shul's have a sisterhood-run shop that has mezuzah's and scrolls, but, it won't be the best selection.

If you're willing to take a short drive, I highly recommend CBL Fine Arts in West Orange.  They have a wonderful selection.  I bought the mezuzah for Alana's room there.

ETA - oh, and CBL has a website, so, you can look there, too!  They sell kosher scrolls.

  • Not sure about Bergen County but your synagogue also might sell them (ours does).  J Levine that lishie posted is great as well.

  • ok, many things to respond to... thanks ladies!

tara - good to know, maybe ill come by and see what you have.  i guess i could get a scroll elsewhere (they seem to ahve them on amazon, i have to check if they're kosher).

lisa - thanks for the suggestions.  i forgot about rudi's, which makes me thinks it's closed, but i figured you'd have lots of suggestions.

TTC76 - thanks! ill check it out.

wedding2006 - yeah, i dont belong to a synagogue, but if i did, that would be a good idea :)

you definitely do not need a membership to purchase - just call a local shul or two near you and ask if they sell it and what times you could come by to see the selection.

  • I've gotten lots of beautiful mezuzahs at an online store called Mezuzah Mosaics (mezuzahmosaics@gmail.com).  They even have mezuzahs shaped like flipflops for a beach house and many other more elegant mezuzahs.
