(XP) help me find a TV stand for 65 inch TV!

How did you make your entertainment wall attractive?

Our DD will be crawling soon so it's time to (finally) retire our ancient big-box big screen TV and DH's ghetto stereo stand. This is what we currently have (blech):

So we're finally getting a flatscreen & DH wants a 65 inch. That creates a real challenge finding a stand that will hold it. We DON'T wand to wall-mount it.

I want something attractive that has storage for at least 3 components (blu-ray, cable box, receiver) and storage for our massive DVD collection. DH vetos the big one-piece wall units because it'd be too difficult to reach the wiring if needed.

So now our new idea is a console where the TV can sit and have matching storage on each side of it. That'd let him get to the wiring if needed, but gives us the storage we need too. Something like this (but symmetrical cabinets on the sides):

Any suggestions where we can something find this? It seems the limiting factor is the size. Ikea has some, but they're all too small.

Or do you have any other ideas? Thanks so much!

This isn't exactly like what you posted, but we struggled to find a unit that would house all the components while still allowing for ventilation. We have surround sound receiver, blu ray, modem (for streaming) and used to have a cable box until we ditched cable. I didn't want the living room to look like a college dorm with all Dh's toys!

We searched everywhere and finally found this company online via an electronics geek discussion forum. We were leery about ordering something like this online without seeing it in person, but we couldn't be happier with it. It's solid wood, made in the USA and they have excellent customer service.

  • Ooh, thank you so much!! My DH is also leery of ordering online, but maybe he'll be interested because of your experience with them.

  • We have a 60" on this and it's been great. They do have matching towers....but we don't have any more room on that wall. We're in CO so we just picked it up. But they do deliver nationwide-o idea on the cost got that. http://www.afwonline.com/furniture/entertainment-furniture/tv-stands-consoles/del-mar-52-tv-console---chocolate-maple-52con-cm

  • Are you sure you want a 65 inch? We have a 55 inch plasma TV and it's huge. It fits our stand but a bigger TV would have hung over. I honestly cannot imagine getting an even larger TV. Also, are you going with plasma or LCD? We have plasma and while I love the colors, it's super heavy so moving it is a 3-person job. It weighs more than 100lbs. Just something to consider.
