AW: fawn in our back yard (semi GLR)

I saw the fawn this morning but thought it was just passing through. Turns out it's taken up (temporary) residence in our back yard. I caught this as I was taking DD out for a walk in the backyard tonight:

  • Hide your hosta!  They're cute, but they can really do some damage.  They munch my hosta and asiatic lillies.

  • Adorable!  I haven't seen any fawns this year yet but we typically have one mom who likes to hide her fawn in the tall grass between our lower yard and pond.  They have to walk across part of our driveway and through our backyard to get to the woods but luckily they don't do any damage to the plants I've planted.  Probably because there are so many other native plants to eat.

Hmm maybe I should upload some pictures I just took of the baby geese and ducklings on our pond this year.

  • Cute!

We watched a hawk circling last night and land in our tall tree.  It sat there for a couple minutes, completely still.  Then it jumped (?) down and grabbed a sparrow from a lower branch before taking off.  It was like Wild Kingdom, right in the yard.
