Now that it's heating up for real, how are you planning to beat the heat this summer? I plan on lots of pool time, but really want to spend a bit of time up North (Flagstaff, Oak Creek, Prescott)...
Does anyone recommend Salt Walter Tubing? I've lived here for years and never done that.
Re: Beat the summer heat!
We plan to spend most of the summer in our pool! We also have a trip to So. Cal planned as well as a couple of weekend trips to No. AZ. Just gotta get through!!
I did the Salt River when I was in HS. Not ashamed to admit that was 20 years ago. :0 It was fun but I hear it's gotten gross and crazy. Just a rumor...
yeah that river is nasty. i went a few times in high school. now it's full of a bunch of drunk people lol. if you're going to go, i'd recommend going on a weekday for sure. weekends are full of college kids being drunk and dumb
nothing planned here but sitting on my butt in the ac!
I don't remember there ever being a time that Salt River wasn't full of drunk people? lol
It can be fun with a group of people, but avoid it completely on holiday weekends (regular weekends are crazy enough). The water is pretty nasty though, and you will encounter a lot of crazy drunk people. So... I guess just make your decision knowing that. haha
And we don't have much going on this summer (I swear it feels like we are always broke!!)
I want to get up north a couple of times. One trip will be a wine tasting trip at a couple of the vineyards in Northern AZ (including AZ Strongholds), and then probably spending the night in Prescott. I am planning this with my husband and some of our good friends.
We also will probably go up to Sedona for a few days with my dad and stepmom. My dad has a time share up at the Los Abrigados Resort, and we have gone a few times. It is so much fun, and just awesome to escape the heat for a couple days.
Our big summer plans are just chillin by the pool until baby get here. then park it inside the AC. No summer trips planned because of baby so if we can get away in the fall we may head to San Diego.
Salt River Tubing is fun every now and then. I would go in a group and tie your tubes together. It is a drunk fest but you meet some really interesting people that way. The holiday weekends are super crowded so an off weekend is probably best. the water is nasty but its lake water so thats to be expected.
