Hello ladies,
DH and I are going to visit family and we need to rent a car to fit all of us for a long trip. Besides a minivan (which all seem to be reserved, and frankly, more expensive) what SUV/car/etc. would you recommend for two large dogs (70+lbs) and an infant car seat?
We don't plan on crating the dogs or letting them travel in the luggage area. We usually just seatbelt them in.
Thanks!
Re: Recommend a rental suv
We're using a rental and they have the SUV's categorized as 'mid-sized', 'full-sized' and . Each place classifies them differently. I kind of cringe at the gas mileage, as my car gets between 36-38mpg...
According to Budget:
Standard SUV's
Chevy Trailblazer; Dodge Journey; Jeep Grand Cherokee; Jeep Wrangler; Mitsubishi Endeavor; Nissan Murano; Nissan XTerra; Pontiac Torrent; Toyota 4Runner; Toyota FJ Cruiser; and Toyota Venza.
Intermediate SUV's
Chevrolet Equinox; Dodge Nitro; GMC Terrain; Hyundai Santa Fe; Jeep Compass; Jeep Liberty; Jeep Patroit; Kia Sorento; Kia Sportage; Mercury Mariner; Nissan Rogue; saturn Vue; Subaru Forester; Subaru Outback; Suzuki Grand Vitara; and Toyota Rav4.

While we own one of these, I would not recommend it if you have to put in an infant car seat. It's not the easiest thing to do.
