Months ago he bought a Groupon-like deal for a bar up the street we'd ate outside at once.
Since it was close and a good deal ($15 for 2 entrees and a bottle of wine), he bought it. Well last week I realized that it expires this Thursday 6/9, so we decided that we should use it. We walk to the bar last night and are literally sweaty by the time we get there (and it's only about 5 blocks). The frikkin bar has NO air conditioning!! It's 95 F outside and we sat outside sweating/eating. Miserable!
I guess it's usually a safe assumption that a restaurant has A/C, but really of all nights to eat someplace that doesn't?! Eeek!
Anyone else have experiences that they feel like were not executed like you'd hoped?
Re: DH is the worst planner
This just happened a few weeks ago. I bought a gift cert off restaurant.com so we took my parents to this place just for that reason and they happened to have all-you-can-eat wings and crab legs that night so we ALL did that. Yea. You can't use the gift cert on that deal so we had to pay the full price! I was annoyed that it didn't work, but I was also a million times more annoyed that the kid didn't tell us!
You have to give the gift cert BEFORE ordering, etc so he knew we planned to use it. You'd think he'd say something since the FOUR of us ordered all-you-can-eat!!
Ugh. So annoying. And the jerk had the nerve to ask if we wanted to use some of the gift cert for the drinks. Hello?!?!
Oh, that sucks. We bought a Groupon a while back for one of the Italian places in the North End. We ended up going the week their episode of Kitchen Nightmares aired, and it was awful. The food was fine, but the service was terrible. So I wrote up an honest-yet-amusing review on Yelp, and the manager FREAKED OUT. He sent me the nastiest email - private, of course, and he actually said that he wasn't posting it on the review itself because Yelp discourages them from attacking posters publicly. He told me I was insulting, that I should stick to fast food places, and that I wasn't welcome there any more. So I wrote another review about his email. I was going to post it, but I thought I'd save everyone the headaches I suffered due to his extremely poor grammar and spelling. A couple of days ago (two months later!) he posted an apology and sent me another email.
Yeah, I'll still be sure to never go there again. Damage done, buddy.
(I have no idea if the link will work right, but in case anyone is bored, here's my review, under Erica D.)
Kearstin - uggh! That's utterly annoying!! I love the deals with restaurant.com, but somtimes it's so frustrating to try to utilize. We used one once at a Mexican place; we showed it when we were seated and gave it to the server; when we received the bill it hadn't been deducted and then it took literally 30 minutes to correct it.
Erica- haha! That's a great review!
