180 days in confinement blows my mind
I'm talking to my cousin who was in prison for 11yrs. I try not to ask him about prison bc I can't imagine he really wants to talk about it.. but he has like a billion tattoos and I wanted to know how he got them all..
He said, all in prison, and he spent a lot of time in the hole bc of it. I asked him about this hole.. and how long he spent in it.
He said the longest he spent was 180 days in a row in solitary confinement.
seriously, could you even imagine? I didn't ask what got him sent to the hole for that long- he said after 30 days he was allowed out for 1hr/wk ..
I'm really intrigued by prison. that is weird, right?
Re: 180 days in confinement blows my mind
I've seen it a few times I think. I know that solitary confinment exists, but I didn't know the length of time.
I'm fascinated by prison, too, and considered working in one for a while, as a psych aide.
My favorite teacher in grad school was a prison psychologist, and I took lots of classes about those sorts of things. Fascinating stuff.
My H thinks this makes me weird.

LOL. I don't feel right asking him about it. I don't "know" him that well. I was 12 when he left..
Oh. I know what he did to go to prison..well, i know what the florida dept of corrections website says but I don't know details.. I have heard stories over the years. I honestly doubt my Dad knows why..and I could ask my Mom.
I really don't care to know the details of why he went to prison. It doesn't matter to me. I don't think knowing the details will help me to know him any better. He was 15 when he went to jail. IMO, he is not that boy anymore. I think talking to him now, and getting to know him will help me to know him. Knowing why he went could change my opinion of him, and what he did then doesn't matter.. he didn't kill anyone, or hurt anyone.
I wanted to know what he did to end up in solitary confinement for 180 days. Not because it really matters, but i'm curious what you have to do to get that type of punishment. kwim?
