Preschool Age

I haven't posted in awhile, but since I've done most of my posting here, I thought I'd return.

My daughter will be 3 in July.  How horrible would it be for her to not attend preschool this year?  All of the preschools I'd consider for her are past the admissions date for this upcoming school year.

Any thoughts on starting her next year after she turns 4?  Any ideas of ways to get her around other kids in a similar environment? She really loves yoga classes and things like that, but I can't seem to find a whole lot of classes for children her age here on the east side.

Thanks :)

Re: Preschool Age

  • You can take her to your local library for story-time.

Don't worry about deadlines. Call admission offices.  They always have someone drop out and need to fill slots.

I got my toddler into Angel Care Montessori last year in late August.  And the slots in my other daughters nursery school were open until last minute as well.

I'm not putting my DD into preschool until she's 4yo. She goes to a sports class once a week (each week's different: soccer, baseball, football, track and field, etc.), and we do storytime at the library. In a couple weeks, she'll be staring a 4-week swim class. We are also considering signing her up for gymnastics (or continuing swim if she really likes that) in the fall.

  • Well my kids are in daycare so Ben will automatically move to their preschool class room when he's ready, but you could do something like that too - more of a part-time "daycare" at a center where she would be at that age/stage anyway? We go to a Goddard School and they have all sorts of programs and spots always open up at random.

    Good luck!

  • Enrollment is down across the board in lots of preschools these days so if you would like to send her it is def. worth a call to the school.
