Teachers: summer plans?

YAY! It is summer time! Teachers- what do you have planned?  Any projects around your house?  Do you work another job?  Do you have any vacas planned?

Re: Teachers: summer plans?

  • Mine will involve spending lots of time at the Y trying to tackle this baby weight that I have made no attempt to take off over the last nine months.  We are also finishing up potty training.  Sounds like fun, huh?

I will live vicariously through all of the fun the rest of the ladies will be having.  I hope everyone enjoys their summer break!

  • I will be spending as much time with MacKenzie as possible!  We are taking a family vacation (like my parents, sisters, and my little family) to New York for the 4th of July.

Other than that, we are doing a whole lot of nothing and I cannot wait!

  • I'm still finishing up this week with final exams and what not but half my classes are gone since I teach half senior classes.

I have a bunch of weddings booked which is rare because usually we are pretty slow in the summer.  On the off weeks, I have some stuff planned like a trip back down to Miami to see my bff and her baby and a trip up to Philly for H's grandma's bday and to see a phillies game.  I'm also organizing a big event at the beginning of August for local brides so I'm going to be working on that.  Going to a few reading teacher trainings as well.

And my house project for the summer is to fix up our patio.  We are moving our hot tub to make the space more usable.  I'm going to try to create an outdoor living space instead of the dirty patio that just sits there.  :)

  • Guidance Counselors too!!!!  :-)

Last summer, we did playdates with friends a lot, and went to the library.  But, by the end of the summer Isaiah and I were ready to go back lol.  So, this year I have a little more planned...and with the addition of Marcus, it will be fun too!

we will take on one more foster child I think...so, whenever that happens.

Isaiah is taking swim classes on Mon and Wed nights at the Y til the beginning of July.  we plan to hit the splash park, pool their frequently.  We also have lots of playdates anticipated.

He is also going to a camp on Mondays at Campfire Kids.  It is just a couple of hrs, and during it, Marcus and I will go to the park.

we are going to do storytime again at the library each week and feed the ducks befor ehand.

We plan to hit Sea World a lot bc we have passes.

I want to go to the beach

we are taking a one week beach trip to Fort Myers, and we have lots of family coming into town (FIL for one week, MIL for one week, and my parents for one week).

  • Good luck with the baby weight!  Do you plan on taking classes or just going to the gym?  Two summers ago I spent a lot of time at the Y.  The bootcamp classes kicked my *ss! :)  The spinning was also great.

  • Oh, Hillsborough isn't out yet?  When will you be totally done?

Have fun in Miami and Philly!  Our cruise is out of Miami and I am hoping that we can go up early and spend some time there, but IDK if it's gonna work out with the other couple's work schedule :(

Post some pics of the patio once it's all done!

  • Yes Kel, I wanted to hear about your plans too! :)

IDK that you guys were gonna on another child.  That is so AMAZING!  Do you know anything about when that will be, age, etc.?

Have fun with everything else, you should like you're going to be very busy!

Today was our last day with the kids and they got out at 9:30.  Now just working on grading exams, packing up the room, etc.  We have teacher workdays on Monday and Tuesday but since I will be just about done, I might not have to come on Tuesday or I might come and help my department with inventory if they need help.

  • I'll just be enjoying my time with the babies before I go back in August. I will have been off of work for almost 9 months so I know it is going to be tough!

H and I have a wedding and a 3 night cruise in July, but other than that we'll just be going on playdates and relaxing. I guess the same things we have been doing, lol. I know all the teachers and guidance counselors are happy but summer just reminds me that my maternity leave is almost over!!

  • Grading stuff this late is so weird to me.  In Elem school we give them their report cards on the last day of school, which means that we complete grades a couple of weeks before the last day.  It's nice to be done with that and not have to worry about it at the very end.

  • Aww, I'm sorry!  Enjoy your last bit of time off with your babies!

Where is the wedding? Where does the cruise go to?

The wedding is in Jacksonville. We are bringing the babies with us. The following weekend we are going on a 3-night Carnival cruise to Nassau from Port Canaveral but it will just be the two of us. It was the only 3-night we could find in July. It is on the Sensation, an older ship. But I think we could be on a canoe and still have the best time. We are looking forward to sleeping in and being able to just totally relax for a couple of days. Have you been on the Sensation? I know you are a cruiser, right?

  • That's nice that you're getting two vacations- one with the babies and one without.

Yes, we have been on the Sensation.  It was not the greatest ship, but I completly agree, we could have fun in a canoe LoL The ship itself wasn't in bag shape at all. Our biggest issue was the cruise director was like 99 years old and not so fun.  But I'm sure there is someone different there now.  There weren't many activities onboard, etc.  But any cruise (or vacation) is a good one!  I'm sure you will have an amazing time no matter what!  Will this be your first time away from the babies for that long?  What type of room did you get? Have you been to Nassau before?
