Have you been here?

Salon Apex in Amherst.  I got a few recs to go there and so I called today and got an appt right away ... perfect!  The very friendly secreatry then told me, as a new client, what their prices are.  I'm going to paying $40 for a haircut.  I had to swallow my gasp.  I know that's higher end, it's not completely outrageous, but still.  And the thing is, I REALLY need my cut fixed.  I love the length and the style but I don't know what in hell my stylist did when I last saw her two weeks ago or so ... she was extremely distracted, talking non-stop and yelling at people, and took a personal phone call and got even more distracted after that.  I left w/ a cute cut, but one side is definitely more angled than the other and I finally decided this morning that I can't live w/ that.  So I guess I'm going to go and pay $40 to go and have this fixed.  I really, really hope this is worth the money.  Anyone been and have any insight?

Re: Have you been here?

  • I've never been there but I wanted to say good luck getting your cut fixed! I'm sorry your regular stylist was not giving you 100% last time, thats a little frustrating. Hopefully this place will be worth the money!
  • Wow! I've never been there before, but i couldnt intentionally pay 40$ for a hair cut.  Carl would be sooo mad, haha!

At least you know the price now though.  It would have been horrible if you went in there not knowing.  Good Luck :-)

  • I have never been there before but good luck!  The last lady I went to didn't do a good job either!  Salon Mirabella in Merrimack is supposed to be pretty good ...I hear.

PS....I don't think $40 is too much!  IMO!  I used to pay WAY more in Boston!

  • Honestly I think $40 is a pretty good deal for a great haircut!  I'm also coming from the Boston mentaility where I used to get my hair cut for years.  Although I do know Innovations and Cassandras are way more than $40 too.
  • Thanks for the input, and I feel a little better now spending the 40 bucks, knowing that's pretty average.  More than I wanted to spend but if she does a really great job, it's worth it.  A friend of mine today told me that she went to Cassandra's once for a cut and color and it was $250 and that her husband just about shat himself when she told him.  He said she could never go there again unless they were pouring gold into her hair, LOL!!  =)
  • yeah, i can't remember the last time a cut cost me less than $40....i've paid at least that for a looooong time.
  • I would call back the salon you went to and ask for them to fix it. I have had to do that before at a nice salon. I didn't want to but I paid a lot of money. The salon would definately fix it. Tell them you want someone else to fix the cut.
  • Haircuts are so expensive these days = )  $40 is about average.  I can't remember the last time I paid less than $40 for a cut
