Hey ladies! I just wanted to say thanks for all of the good luck wishes. I was checking in, but for some reason I can't post on my phone (iphone users...any ideas?)
The race was awesome. I had such a blast through the whole thing! And of course as always, San Diego was amazing. The weather was perfect everyday. It was so great to see all of our friends that came into town. We rented to cutest little beach bungalow & it was so great to just chill and enjoy the beach, wineries, breweries etc. I was definitely not ready to come back, but I think I might be one step closer to convincing DH that we need to move.
Anyway, I hope everyone is doing well!

Glad you had a great race & vacation! I saw your post on FB about drinking a beer during it. That's my girl!
It was awesome! I was in too much pain to enjoy that section of the race last year, which is a shame because it's awesome. It's a short street through a neighborhood & every year the residents bring out oranges, watermelon, ice pops & beer. Everyone was passing them by so the guys were really excited when I swooped in & grabbed one.
I'm so glad I decided to relax & enjoy it this year while still shaving a decent chunk off of my time.
It was the highlight of the race and at that point it was a million times more refreshing (it was ICE COLD) than any of the water stops. I gave the guys a "cheers", chugged it down & then you round the corner & there is a bridge you get to run down with a gorgeous view of the bay right in front of you & the cool air blowing as you head into the home stretch. So awesome! I was grinning like an idiot. lol
Love this description! Welcome back!
awesome!
I'm always too much of a weenie to take a stranger's beer, but I imagine that's gotta be SO sweet. Straight carbs and cold beverage? yesplease!
If I can fit it into our travels, I'd love to. I think I'll always have a soft spot for this race since it was my first marathon. I'm running a 10 person relay from Miami to Key West in January & I'm hoping to run NYC or The Marine Corps in DC next fall (2012)...but I'd love to do San Diego again in the spring. If we wind up moving out there at some point I think I'd definitely do it every year.
I just saw that on H&F. Very cool! I didn't see it. Unfortunately the race did not start out well. Traffic was insane. I winded up ditching DH & our car about 2 miles from the start line and sprinting up a hill to try & get there. I wasn't even in my corral yet when the horn blew. I also left my spibelt w/all of my gels & beans in the car. Luckily it got much better once I started the race, because I was panicking for a few minutes there!
Thanks! You should definitely do a half in 2012. Be careful though...it gets addicting!
