hi! i normally post on the houston board but wanted some local recs for a bakery in the city. planning a trip there for a birthday and wanted to order a good cake. we'll be staying near the magnificent mile, so some where that we could easily get to without a car is ideal! TIA!
Re: bakery rec
I like Sarah's Candies (in spite of the name they also make cakes and other baked goodies). Their website is
http://www.sarahscandies.com/
Hope that helps!
I always find that I'm an odd-man out on this, but I don't like Sarah's at all. Maybe it was the hype, but I just haven't been impressed the few times I've had items from there.
More Cupcakes is delicious and does special orders. I also like the baked good from Fox and Obel grocery; they do special orders as well.

My brother bought a cake from Rahmig's House of Fine Chocolates b/c it looked cool and he liked a cookie he bought from there. He brought it to a friend's housewarming party and everyone loved it! It was the "skyline cake"
