Q for iPhone owners

Do any of you have issues with your iPhone overheating or not functioning well in hot weather?

I own an HTC Incredible and plan to upgrade to the iPhone when my plan lets me.  The Incredible tends to have problems with overheating (I know I'm not alone with my phone problems because the Incredible forums talk about this issue), and my phone recently died because I dared to use it outdoors in the hot weather and it kept overheating, eventually causing it to flake out and cease functioning properly.

I was just curious if this was also an issue for the iPhone.

  • Not at all.

  • A friend of mine left hers on the car dashboard for a while and it alerted her that it was overheating (we live in FL)... hasn't been an issue since. :)
  • Nope. It only has issues if left in the sun. Even then it will alert you that it is over heating and going to shut off. This is a safety precaution that protects the circuitry from damage. As an FYI, I'm posting from mine now while laying out in thre sun in 90 degree temps.

  • Never had an issue.
  • No, I've never had that problem. I have/had iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4's.

  • no but there are no  real moving parts in the phone as far as I remember and so you shouldn't really have any issues like that.
  • I left mine in the car during 100 degree weather for 3 hours with no problems and I've had it for 2 years.

Dh had an iPhone 4 that did this, the alert came up that it was overheating. He brought it back to Apple and they immediately gave him a new one.

Otherwise all of our iPhones have been fine and have never had an issue.

  • I just got my iPhone and I didn't know this! Great feature, especially if you live somewhere that can get pretty hot in the summer.

  • I have never had a single problem with my iPhone 4
  • My 3Gs has never had a problem with heating, and I've had it for a looong time (first run, when it first came out). I love this phone!! Enjoy yours! :)
  • Thanks for all the responses.

I ended up using a family member's (unwanted) upgrade to get my iPhone.  I still have 9 months until I'm eligible for an upgrade on my own plan, so I feel pretty lucky that I could make this happen given that my Incredible bought the farm.

FWIW, I am not on a family plan with this particular family member but I was still able to use her upgrade.  I was shocked it worked, but Verizon Wireless was totally cool with it.
