This may be a long shot but have you been to or camped at Sleeping Bear Dunes? South Manitou Island looks so nice.
I've been searching google maps to see if there's anything nature-y in the rest of Michigan/Wisconsin and happened upon this place. It looks gorgeous and reminds me of Pictured Rocks.

Tired after a long morning of hiking and swimming.
Re: Mac17
I haven't been there. It looks amazing though, and I don't see how it could be bad.
The Mr. and I are going to do Pictured Rocks this summer and will also head to the Log Slide in Grand Marias. My family has cabin about 13 miles south of there, which is located in the Hiawatha National Forest. There are quite a few car camping opportunities on lakes in that region.
My hometown in Gladstone, in the U.P., is beautiful. There are hiking opportunities along the Days River Pathway.
I could go on and on about places to see and do in the U.P., but not very helpful when it comes to Lower Michigan.
Let me know if you want more info the U.P.
